Gearbox Went Bang !

need a new gear box , pulled away a bit sharp tonight and got into 3rd and went bang now a very loud noise from the gear box and will not drive properly  but the noise go\'s away when i engage the clutch only just got home and the car off the recovery truck so will get the car onto the ramps asap and have a closer look , anyone got a spare gear box for a fd asap

Oh dear. I think there are a few around, and not very expensive. If I remember correctly, Ross (Dragon) has one, and a few others, too.

I\'ve got a box off a breaker.... think it\'s done about 40k but was working well till the engine blew, it\'s from a 95 manual!!

Erm, arent you going to need an uprated box if you are putting that much power through the wheels Wes?

standard boxes are fine for a given lenght of time- but for hard use they wont last too long.. i would go for rx8 box but wez is in process of selling car to guy in cyprus so not sure if he is going for  the 8.

wait a minute! the rx8 box fits right on?? what about the rx8\'s 6 speed box???

dont think it just bolts on its in wrong position i blve gearshift  is further away plus not sure if ratios are that compatible

RX8 box will fit but as said the gear lever is further forward so you have to cut away the plastic surround also you have to mod the clutch slave cyclinder  location and a few other niggling bits. Ratios will be fine

The lever is so close to the dash you have to remove radio or some part of it, ok in a striped track car.

If you was serious about boxes though, we will have in next month a seq with paddle on our site, but if selling you wont be interested.

Slap a 7 box in it and its sold and gone.
