um right

i have a slightly leaky rad aint had the car long

cant afford a new one

would it be ok to put rad weld in it

would i do damage to this type of engine???

thanks for your time

ratty_ratty

ok thanks

oh also a mate of mine always use mustard as its cheaper if you have some kicking about at home. i seem him use it all the time on normal piston cars and turbo cars and it workd a treat always does the job no problems at all he put some in his car about 3 years ago to stop a rad leak in his scooby wrx and never changed the rad and never had a problem and it sealed it perfect.

do you think its a good idea to try or its not worth risking it??

I would use the product that has been proved in a rotary application for £15.  Why risk a £3500 rebuild of your engine for such a small sum.  However it\'s your engine and your choice!

ok thnaks for the advice

will get some kseal lol

Does your car have a Apexi PFC unit or a water temp gauge ?

If you try the rad fix stuff keep an eye on water temps if they start to rise over say 105oC when its a cold day and you have plenty of cold air infeed it isn\'t working so turn the car off asap.

A while ago had a very small leak on my rad and kept topping up every other day to make sure all was well, all WAS well until a long trip on the motorway saw the water temp hit 110oC when on the motorway it should be about 78oC   all the water had leaked out and had i not have seen the water temp it would have been bye bye engine.

By all means try the stuff but keep a keen eye on the water temps.

Hi

There is an excellent RX7 specialist in Romford called Kerim at Powergains Motor Sport who I have used many times including last week with also a water leak problem.

Kerim’s work is fantastic (London massive use the company) and also his prices are shockingly good.

It may be an idea to call Kerim and ask for a quote of a good second had rad fitting ( they have many parts ).

Your situation with the rad may get worst in time especially in the summer..

Let me know if you want to call them, I will let you have his nr

Ello ello, just a thought and I realise everyones wallets are hammered after christmas but it might be worth seeing if any of the chaps like Tim at Rx Motors have got a half decent 2nd hand one lying about in his aladdins cave. Might be a cheaper solution in the long run!

There are several options, some quick fix some proper fix, and for different pockets.
K-Seal if internal, only £8 +vat

Quick Seal if you can see the leak externally only £5.62 + vat, AA and RAC carry this for just this purpose.

Or second hand and new rads.
