Recently the cars been misbehaving, i dont usually give it many beans in 4th  gear or above, as it is more than fast enough in 3rd gear when the twins come on, but had a play with a supra and when in 4th at 4500 rpm the revs went up and the speed did not, i first though this was wheel spin as the tires were cold (i\'s been driving for about 10 mins in town so the engine was nicely warmed up) and it was a cold day with a bit of damp on the road. But it\'s done it again when the road was dry and yet it did not feel the same a wheel spin from a standing start ( i dont normaly do this but some times you cant help it)

I\'ve been driving for over 10yrs and (luckly) never had a clutch go on me before so i\'m not too sure, but from what i\'ve read it does seem to me that the clutch is slipping in higher gears, which means it\'s on it\'s way out. Is this right?

And if it is going which clutch to go for?

I\'m running 14psi on stock twins (been like this for 3 yrs with no probs) twin K&N air fliters, air pump disconnected, RB exhaust (fully system i believe, but not 100% on down pipe) and uprated smic

Thanks for reading my essay! :wave

Is not the easiest way to check if your clutch is failing to turn the car on, put on the handbrake, and effectively try to pull away in first..

General thing you do on a normal car, but not sure if this is good to do on a rotary engine..

You can then "feel" if the clutch is slipping when it bites in.. Difficult to explain, but that\'s the simplest/first test you\'d normally try.

Bobbit

Ok bud i\'ll give that a try, i\'m not too trusting on the effectiveness of the hand brake tho, LOL

Can anyone recommend what type of clutch would be best? Would a standard bare up to the increased boost?

Hi All,

For an uprated clutch to suit the requirements you require you need look no further than the cluch on the link below which is a direct no aggro replacment for your standard clutches.

Over the next week if you can get at least 4 of you together we will cut the price of £345 plus Vat down to £300 plus vat.

In addition to this if you need a release bearing we will cut that price from £47.66 plus vat down to £37 plus vat for each clutch sold on this thread.

Hope this helps

9 times out of ten on any car you will need a new release bearing and because of this it makes sense to change it anyway as insurance so your not pulling the box back out a couple of months down the line.

If you hold the bearing in you hand then spin the front and you can hear it make quite a loud "whirring" sound, it\'s up for renewal.
