Has anyone experimented with V mounted SMIC\'s?
I\'ve got an XSP intercooler (don\'t start ;) :D) which i figure with the right ducting will still be an advantage over stock. I\'m also about to order a Koyo rad.
I\'m debating whether to just whack it in as stock, or look at v-mounting, but i\'m not sure how advantageous that would be?

There\'s a guy on RX7club that\'s done it, and looks pretty good, but he\'s had to relocate the filters into near wheree the oil cooler goes on the twin cooler versions - I\'m not that keen on putting it in the path of water.

Either way, there\'s going ot be proper ducting to it :)

I did one using xs power ic on a friends twin turbo car and he has reported much better improved air intake so yes that ic does work see page 3 for pics http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43978&page=3

lol! I even posted on that thread! :o
Cheers dude - I\'ve got Apexi filters too and it looks like they should fit from those photos :)
Nice one, although not sure i\'ll have time before the mapping.
I guess if i get it mapped ain stock mount and then V-mount it, I should be alright running it without another remap?

Kudos to the DIY\'er :)

I would do that first before getting the car mapped.  I think the reason why this XS power ic works better in that position is not that fact that it in v-mount position but its more with the position of those air filters; they will be getting more direct cold air from front and breathing much better helped by that ic being in that position hence better, colder intake temps...:Thumbsup!
