Help Needed

I have just run in my streetported engine, was getting it mapped yesterday with new knightsports rf420 turbos when they decided to go bang :mad: now i need my car asap so Tim @ rxmotors has a hkst51r that he will put on for me this week but i am a bit worried that this is going to spool up real slow  and might be a bit overkill. i suppose i would like to see about 450bhp @ the wheels but seens as its mainly for road use dont really want huge amounts of lag can anyone tell me when i should be seeing full boost.

is it a journal bearing or ball bearing turbo ?

I would expect full boost somewhere around 4800 rpm onwards..

im no sure on the bearing as had to make a snap decision about 4pm yesterday but 4800 rpm dosent sound to bad and i suppose there is always plenty of scope for more power in the future if required

that is optimistic, with a ball bearing tub.  The journal bearing on a street port is prob gonna be 5500 +

went from stock setup 300atw 1bar to a bridgeport/T51R kai 390atw 1bar after a fun, but expensive run in with an expensive supercar :Laugh.....a win, but had to replace everything :rolleyes: .
 
Its not a streetport, but not far off and was suprised how responsive this setup is. What lag ? thanks reworx.com !
 
I would say the turbo is spooling from approx 2500rpm all the way to the red full boost at approx 4800rpm and 470atw+ at 1.2bar tbc.
 
Is the turbo a KAI or an SPL ?
 
SPL is HUGE and have no idea how this would respond...hope this helps.

Hi mate, I have been running the T51 Kia with Extended Street Port, for some time now, on the road at full boost and on Track. It is heart stopping. Fuel consumption believe it or not is fantastic as you don\'t use it until you get to 5000 revs.
You can fly around under 5000revs no probs. YES you have got Lag but you just change your driving style. You want power you just drop it a cog and set your revs up to spool her up so you are sat at just below 5000revs. eg. some Supercar sits on your back end in the outside lane to bully you out of the way, get into the correct gear ( 3rd ) and floor it, into 4th and then back off and wait for him to catch up then do it again and back off and let him come alongside. He will either show respect or not look at you as he is screaming in his head " How can that piece of Jap-Crap blow my Supercar away....AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
