Is my car deaded?

i had a bouncy idle in mine.. but it turned out to be an air leak.  I shat myself when it started doing it, but i dismantled all the air-ducting/intercooler pipework from turbo to plenum and it cured my problem.  The revs were going up/down aswell as the boost gauge. i believe if its just your gauge bouncing then ur stuffed and its tipped.. if u get both it could be something quite trivial
