iv come to sell my car and looking on the autotrader theres people giving them away 2900quid for one with 40k on the clock, why are people insiting on making such a brilliant car worthless, and it winds me up when theres people selling d reg rs turbos for 4-6grand... its purely insane if we genuinly stood back and looked at what both cars are really worth a door handle off an rx7 is worth more than any ford....really wound up

I agree with you mate.... a lad I know is selling his series 1 RS Turbo & he will get 5k for it..... basicaly the same as a mint original 92 rex!!!! it\'s so wrong! Think it\'s all down to the crap imported versions knocking around, dragging the price of the average rex through the floor!!

yes, but Ford RS\'s have a massive following in the UK, rx\'s don\'t really have a massive following anywhere in Europe

Timmy

it\'s probably because there\'s problems with them and they\'re hoping you will get blinded by the price. One with 40k on the clock has probably had the clocks changed as well.

ford classics ie rsturbo/3 or 4 door cossies etc allways hold their price the average rex is just too troublesome with mot/ins and fuel consumption

but iv had allot to do with fords in my past and i can honestly say they are crap, in comparison to an rx7 which for their age are bursting at the seams with technology its insane, and an rx7 was designed and built to be a car that would be happy on a track an rs turbo is a normal run of the mill escort with a turbo a prehistoric injection system and a stripe down the side... i might donate my car to a museum, id rather do that than give it away for peanuts, iv prob put about 7grand in petrol in the thing last year alone lol

The RX market has been destroyed by cheap imports.

When I was first looking to buy an RX five years ago they were like hens teeth, I think there were six in the country to choose from.

When I came to sell mine a few monthe ago there were about 80 on autotrader - simple supply & demand I\'m afraid.

I started with nothing and I have most of it left

Could boil down to the scare stories about RX7`s.

Soon has someone comes on here asking about buying a RX7, they are told either, they use a lot of fuel or start saving for a rebuild,  at least with a ford, theres lots of spares in the scrapyards.

Don\'t forget the ever increasing cost of juice! Not a happy prospect.

Then the fact the UK is obsessed with the plate / age of the car, and new cars are also so cheap compared to how they used to be.

You think theres loads of rx7s for sale??? You wanna check out how many mkiv supras are on trader...over 100 at the moment...compared to about 40 rx7s...and the TT supras are still holding their values just about...
Its the engines on these cars....every aspect of them - HIgh maintenance, scare stories, relatively high fuel consumption and the obvious emissions and insurance issues.
You do also need to remember that 1992 was 16 years ago.... i bet theres some people on here who drive FDs that couldnt even talk when their car was made lol

have to agrree, always more supras about and they have held thier value superbly.

The bottom line is they have more drawbacks than advantages in this market and climate.

and the cheap (sh!t) imports coming in is more the nail in the coffin i think.

It\'s basic economics - people have to sell their cars for one reason or another (and I doubt I\'d be guessing wrong if I say it may well be because of the running costs that they were warned about before) and we\'re in a very slow market at the moment. So the only way to get someone to bite is by lowering the price until the cost peanuts.

IMHO what this\'ll mainly do is make any half-decent FD cheap as chips and thus not worth fixing; the really good stuff probably won\'t be affected as badly price-wise but your average used example will.

I\'m not looking forward to potentially have to sell my FD in a years time - depending on where prices are going I\'m seriously considering putting both the FC and the FD in storage instead of just the FC.

i think we should start an alience to force the prices up, and burn down the houses of these people giving their cars away... a bit drastic yes but very effective i might just put mine up for 30grand
