Quote from: Johnerzur probably right mate!!! part of my line of thought was reliability.  when rebuild time comes and i may/may not decide to upgrade parts to get more horses. (its only got 43,000 miles on it so rebuild is a fair bit away) id probably need a lot of extra work to get in the same bhp/torque figures that i can with the ls.  and potentially sacrifice engine life.  the v8 generally runs forever and is 400bhp out of the crate.

i know there are so many different variables and opinions on that though and i really dont want to start a big debate on it as its been well discussed and hate to drag up old news, just wanted some thoughts/advice on the engine/parts at this stage.  but i can and do take on board both sides of the fence on this one!!

That\'s true, I\'m well up for a v8 conversion but will probably wait till I need a rebuild, you\'ve got about a year left in your rex which isn\'t too bad, and the advantage of doing a v8 conversion with yours now means you can sell a perfectly fine working engine as opposed to a blown engine!

what sort of money would be in that mate?  do you fabricate your own parts or modify fd parts?  i read a post that you were using part of a dodge viper is that correct...axel i think??  id like to email you for more info if thats ok?

hi john no probs tinker-27taylor@blueyonder.co.uk  i have put a viper diff into my car,it was lots of work but with lots of torque (600+)  550 from 2500 rpm i wanted bigger ratios (not a big problem on lower power motors),a auto diff helps,i make most of the stuff my self. cheers craig

Irrelevent statement.

Something else would not be an RX7. It\'s not the car that\'s an issue. The car is frankly amazing. The engines can suck. END.

Think they are too scared:Giggle

Just to add they can be reliable but it seems a bit hit and miss. My engine was powerfull and never missed a beat, but it was built by JD and I think with all new parts.
