i thinks its fairly common to get water from the exhaust nearly all the cars will drip water from exhaust on start up hard to tell condensation from engine water
the filler will pressurise straight away if a seal has gone and throw the water out the filler neck

cool. well from what i remember, the smell isnt bad, not sweet, just exhaust really.. didnt see anything coming out. will give it a test in a day or so. :)

cheers guys,
and yeah, fingers are VERY crossed!!!!

you might also want to check the one way valve from the filler neck to the uim, this would have let boost pressure into the crank case and caused the same symptoms, if its this the excess oil will burn off fairly quickly.

i have had a quick check of the car now. will start it soon with the rad cap off to see what happens.

anyway, the car has been sitting completly idle for over a month now in the great scottish weather! And it started first time with barely an effort! however, it is still pumping the old smoke out the back. If there is no wind, the smoke lingers quite a bit.

i ahve filled up the oil, and will check coolant tonight (if it isnt p**sing it down!). I am a little confused to why the engine will start no problems from cold, runs very smooth and sounds good but have the smoke?

if anyone is around perth who knows these engines better then me, maybe can pop round and have a gander?

:D

okay.. tried again today after work. car wouldnt start (think its flooded as not been moved since last start). anyway, made sure the coolant is full (it was very full!) and tried to start with the cap off. no movement in the water at all - nothing coming out, etc. that was with the car trying to start and the odd splutter of life.

could the whole issue be plugs related at all?

nope definatly a turbo oil seal mate. check your turbo piping, if its only one blown you can identify which one it is fairly quickly and easily. They blow white smoke when the leak is fairly bad, and excess amounts of oil is trying to burn. Make sure your oil is topped up mate.

woo hoo! i am so hoping you are right. turbo change is pretty easy compared to whole car engine!!
