I have a Clifford Concept 500 fitted to my FD3 and found out whilst tracing some wiring it has got the Intellistart4 fitted. I had been led to believe this when I bought the car but I have been unable to get it to work? I have done what the manual says but there appears to be no go? Does the car need to be locked for it to work? Also if I am in valet mode would it prevent it working?
Thank you
Lee

I have been and downloaded some manuals but the concept 500 is not featured here.. I have found a hard copy so I will check through it and see if it makes sense.. I see there is a seperate intellistart manual so I will see if that gives me my answers!

On my Clifford remote start you just press the * button in the top left corner of the remote.   Need to make sure the handbrake is up etc.

One thing you may have to do on yours is an \'exit procedure\'  Basically a way of the Clifford knowing you havent left in gear.  All installations of Remote Start have to have this \'feature\' when fitted to a manual car.  But I talked nicely to the installer who fitted it as though it was an Auto  (well, I cant leave mine in gear, I have a turbo timer)  That was my argument anyway  :)

Problem is, I dont know what that exit procedure is.  I do remember it sounding like a pain in the arse though!

I have intellistart on my vehicle. To get it to work before switching off the engine I have to do the following:
with the engine still running press the key on the fob with two stars on (**), then remove the key from the ignition (don\'t press the brake or accelerator after you have pressed **). The car should still carry on running, then get out of the car (obviously) and lock it up using the lock key on the remote.
This should set the car ready for when you want to use it.
Before getting in or unlocking the car before next use, press the single * key once, after about 30secs the car should start. It will still be locked and then just unlock the car as usual and get in. Once in the car put the key in the ignition and turn it on. Just to let you know if you push the brake or accelerator before putting the key in the ignition and turning it on, it will de-activate and shut down the engine.

Are you sure that it is a Concept 500?

I dont think the concept 500 key fob has a ** button??

Will check later mine are pretty faint! The process does sound like a pain if that\'s right!

Thank you

The reason i ask it that i might be able to get you clifford dealers installation manual as a pdf.

If I can remember right I think the Intellistart can be programmed to a few different button sequences and it depends on how it was setup when it was installed.  Mine is the same as Sidzrx except I have to press two buttons.  I think if you plug in the clifnet software or what ever its called you should be able to find out whats going on.  But I am not 100% sure but I do know that the car has to know it is in neutral to remote start so you have to apply handbrake and do not touch any of the pedals exit (at this point car should still be running) lock the car then arm the alarm.  The car should switch off and you are ready to remote start.

If that makes any sence :Hammer
