I\'ve had my fair share of problems during this single turbo conversion... It seems the most simple of things for me turn into complete nightmare tasks!

Im pretty on the home straight but after putting my engine back in it was not sitting square! So I replace the passenger side mount which had collapsed last night and put it all back in again.. and its still not 100% square!

The line of the engine from the front pulleys to the end of the gearbox is pointing slightly towards the rear drivers side rather than straight down the car...

The mounts are firmyl in position and they are firmly attached to the rear plate, so what is going on?

I feel madness is on its way!

Funny as it sounds I think that\'s how it\'s supposed to be. I remember looking at mine and thinking it didn\'t look right. It does kind of make sense if you think agout all the stuff that has to get routed down the tunnel on the drivers side.

imebgo

It doesnt look right at all!

The engine is mounted more to the passenger side though.. I can see that because the drivers mount extends further away from the engine..

Im still not convinced though! It just looks really wrong!

Referencing another thread...

The engine on here appears to be mounted slightly out of square (if my perception is correct!)

Maybe this is just the way it is then!

drivers and passengers mounts are interchangeable
There are performance cars and then there is the RX-7...........

12.3 second 1/4 mile, terminal speed of 122mph (1st ever drag run on a TO4R)

engine built by....... umm me! now powered by a T51 Kai......

imebgo

The engine is definitly mounted to the passenger side, to get the turbo and exhaust and all the crap to fit...

Maybe its the mounting points on the bottom that are non symetrical

davehg

or maybe your subframe is twisted :Hammer

It was ok when I removed the engine and I doubt anything I could have done to it in situe would have twisted it...

Looking at that previous picture im thinking maybe thats the way its meant to sit..

I\'m pretty sure it\'s right. It makes sense if you think that the turbos, exhaust and steering all sit on the right hand side. Not only do they take up a lot of room, but they weigh a bit. Offsetting the engine compensates and makes room for all that stuff, while keeping the drivers side footwell of a reasonable size. I\'m not sure I agree that the mounts are the same either, tbh. I\'m sure they are different lengths. I could be wrong though.

Martiny

Having just replaced my engine, I am pretty sure the mounts are the same.

im 100% sure the mounts are interchangeable
