Hi guys, just new to the whole rotary scene.

Picked this FB up from a car dealer friend who had it sitting at the back of his yard for over a year. Trailed it out, fired some leads on her and she started straight away :Thumbs-up

Anyway, plan to clean it up a bit and use it for trackdays next season, fair bit of work required lol

Already had it out once to see what exactly it needed... you may notice the lack of beltage. It chewed them after a few hours but I was kinda expecting that, that was the only problem the whole day.

Anyway, here she is:

they are good at chewing belts,  ours did too.   You can easily get hold of a twin pully which allows it to run 2 belts.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Coog

Have read about the twin pully\'s but I cannot find one that\'d fit.

I plan to remove the airpump and the rats nest and then run a single belt to the water pump and one to the alternator (then keep about 10 spares just incase lol). Hopefully that\'ll work alright.

Hi there Coog.

I had an FB that used to chew belts, the first thing you need to do is buy the genuine belt from Mazda. This made a huge difference on my car. I also converted it to dual pulley system. (I was lucky enough to have some dual pulleys from the RX-2) It eventually turned out that the alternator bearings were going, and after replacing those, I had no more belt problems.

These cars are not ultra quick, but they are great fun because of their predictable handling.

Actually, there is an ultra quick one, do a google search for "Stacy Vickers"

He campaigns one (i think its the post-historic class) thats REALLY quick! In fact, I went to watch at Silverstone once and he had a huge lead by the first corner!  I will never forget someone in the crowd saying :

" a...MAZDA????.... how can a Mazda be in front?"

I laughed and laughed... and, boy.. did he thrash the field !

Good luck with the car!

Just looked at your pictures... seems like you need a double pulley for the alternator.

Give Hayward Rotary a call... or RX Motors, they might be able to supply.

Coog

Yep, thats what I need. Will give those guys a shout and see if they can sort me out. Thanks!

On a slightly different note, I cannot find out what the PCD and offset is for my wheels? Anyone have an idea? I think it may be 4x114.3 but have no idea on offset.

hi and welcome, 114.3 x 4 is right dont know the offset but do a search it will be on here somewhere im sure, you have a gen 1 series 3 (same as mine)
i have a few bits if you need anything, also have a double pulley although i was going to sell it with the alternator otherwise i wont have a pulley for it!

Greetings mate, same car, same model, same colour. That one looks a bit tatty but there\'s something about the photos which says it\'s not bad. Hope thats the case.

She\'s a bit tatty right enough but underneath all the rust she\'s not that bad. It has only done 400 miles since the last MOT (strict northern ireland one too) so its tight enough.

Finally got my belts sorted there today too so everythings running grand now.

That threads great, thanks for the link :)
