slowly getting bits together for a new year modding session.
Hks twin power ignition amplifier - is it worth the £230 or so for what benefit you get ?

cant hurt i think its just a little thing u can use to beef up the spark when running higher boost

M@r]{

But define \'higher boost\'   I wonder at what point one of these becomes a benefit?   1bar +  for example?

And does that mean there is no benefit what so ever if you run standard boost?

Red and Single

It also means you can run warmer (iirc) plugs at higher boost saving a great deal of cash on expensive plugs.

You will get slightly better power and consumtion from the increased burn effieciiency I would have thought also, but at low boost, not necessary.

Carl recommended this to me so I\'ve currently got it waiting to go in, hoping it sorts a slight misfire I have at the top end....mine is stock twins running near 1 bar.

Will be pushing the boost upto 1 bar when mods done - doubt risk any further - (stock twins) , got aquamist HFS5 kit to go on for added safety, using 9\'s plugs all round without any misfire so far but change a couple of times a year to be sure they are ok,just wondered if twin spark any benefit on set up when modded.

it isnt really an isuue at 1 bar but will improve spark strength u will be lucky to actually notice anything without datalogging /rolling road data but is a fairly cheap way of improving spark and combustion
they would really come into their own when running from 1bar upwards
i have one more as a precaution and a weakness for gadgets and add ons rather than need

chrisJDM

ive heard before that you really only get benefit from uprating ignition system on highly modded fds, i.e. single turbo setup\'s

peterwolds

maybe not worth getting then - darent ask what gadgets you have ;)  , next i need to decide who to take it to early in the new year for fittings/remap.
wgt - used before
lindop - dont know much about them , as far as i know no dyno
carl - good reports but an extra 200 mile round trip compared to other 2
  but have a leaning towards carl (for fitting etc nothing else:evillaugh  )

Geoff reccomended the exact same to me, i\'m running pretty much the same setup to you.

chrisJDM

you guys will have to update us then if its worth getting when you have got yours fitted :Thumbs-up

I can vouch for the Twin Spark as when I put this on my Rex the acceleration was more instant as soon as I went WOT... definately noticeable difference even if just slighlty

probedb

I\'ll be down at Carl\'s on Weds to sort mine and hopefully cure my misfire too so I\'ll be able to report back on what effect it\'s had.

look forward to hearing how it went, hope misfire goes away

Definitly worth putting on even under 1bar when your fitting a water injection kit, the water apparently dampens the spark, i had a little loss of power (understandable) when i fitted my Aquamist water/meth injection kit and when i strengthend the spark with the twin power the power returned.
