Although i have searched all the posts about resetting ecu\'s most are regarding problems of one thing or another or regarding pfc\'s

I used to reset my integra ecu from time to time to allow the sensors to adjust according to conditions of wear/temperature etc.

Now i know how to do it but!!!

Is this worth doing on the fd or just a waste of time???

Hi Neil,

With an FD as far as I know the only time you should need to reset it is if you have a fault and the ECU goes into limp mode where the engine wont rev above just over 2,000 revs.

If this happens or you want to try it anyway, disconnect the battery then pump the brake pedal which gets rid of and electrical residue floating around in the ABS system and your ECU should reset itself.

Interestingly I had an RX-8 flood only yesterday and it went into limp mode and would only run on a "safe" 2,000 revs fast idle.

Turning the car off and restarting didn\'t help, however locking and unlocking the car on the factory alarm did reset it and the revs came back instantly on the next start up.

Suffice to say the RX-8 ECU is much more sophisticated than an FD due to much newer technology and obviously not only has more protection built in for the engine but also runs 3 different maps within it which it then accesses dependent on driver style with the throttle pedal which turns into information to the ECU which then picks a corresponding map to propel the car along how the driver wishes, damn clever these Japanese peoples :cool
All the best Clive
