Release bearing noise?

Suddenly got a lot of noise coming from the release bearing when the clutch is engaged (it goes quiet when you put the clutch in). It also seems to be getting louder...

What will happen next?! What exactly should I expect? Should I be looking to fix this before going on the track on Sunday or do I wait for the clutch to go?

Any advice appreciated, as usual

Cheers,

Andy

Depends on how much you have left in clutch?
It may just stay noisy or I had one that just disappeared and never came back?
Difficult to tell.

I had this at a track day a year or so ago. It did it after every hard run. I never hear it from normal fast-road use though ??!! Go figure!

mine does the same if i ride the clutch abit, and sometimes in 2nd gear. not sure just to leave it or get it fixed

Well it survived the track day without any problems (apart from being asked if my car was a diesel *grrr*)

But, now I occasionally get a problem in fourth gear. When on full boost the revs suddenly rise without the car accellerating. I don\'t think the wheel are slipping so I\'m guessing the clutch is on the way out...does that sound right?

Generally change when replacing clutch as its a clutch out job and a £35/40bearing will cost £150/200 to fit.

Glad you had a great time on the track.
It does sound like the clutch is on its way out if its slipping on full boast, or its pressure plate is not man enough.

Well, the new clutch is better but the new release bearing hasn\'t stopped the noise so we\'re thinking it\'s the gearbox that\'s at fault :2eek
