Hi, my 1994 FD has been in this country for 20 months now (i`ve owned it for 8 of them) and to the best of my knowledge it has not been under sealed in any way.
I am going to wax oil it soon and was wondering if there were any "problem areas" the FD has for rust etc.

thanks,
Baz.

Any part of the under side that isnt covered in the oil leaking from the engine bay :)

Seriously though, I saw a UK car the other week that had long since already been plated up along the rear sections of the sills and bottoms of the wheel arches. The rear arches were on their way too. The box sections toward the back of the engine bay were also already plated up. Made some scary noises on the ramp o.O

Basically cover the underside mate, make sure its proper dry first though obviously!

I\'ve waxoiled cars before, and it\'s all the same. you need to get it inside all the box sections. cars rust from the inside out  - Know this from having to repaid the buggers in the past. Also, forget the crappy hand squeezing applicator. You really need a compresor and gun to get the stuff in go and proper. Onceyou done all the box sections, then move onto the surface of the underside.
I\'m hardly suprised you have seen Uk FD\'s with plating - the cars are made form thin gauge metal and it\'ll be easily consumed by small amounts of rust, and very rapidly.

Me too; a Midget, several Bugs and a Delta taught me that, lol!

Most of the UK (and quite a few import) cars I\'ve seen have been pretty rusty. But I\'ve never seen one with so many bits plated up already - and more to the point they were far from having been recently done i.e. they looked like they\'d be needing cutting out and replacing again any time now!

Should you think you can do better things with your time other than lying on your back under a car for several weekends, getting cr*p in your eyes and covering everything you touch afterwards in Waxoyl, you could try

Costs about £500
