I looking to replace the solenoid that controls the charge control valve (the valve in the y-pipe that lets the boost from the 2nd tubby into the engine) but which one is it? I think it is the 2nd back (from the front of the car), is this correct?

Yup, that\'s the one. What have you found?

i connected a pipe from the crv, fed it through the passenger window and got air blasted into the car after 4500 rpm, so i know the CCV is not working all the time. So after a bit of searching i found a good test for the soleniods, adapted it a bit and found 3 spare solenoids that can handle 15psi. So i\'m gonna try and swap the one in the car for a good one. Once i\'ve gone that i\'m hoping (like hell!) that this fixes my probs.
Doing it on sat, and i\'m gonna take loads of pics and do a write up, including the solenoid test i tried.

Fixed the little Bar Steward! YES!!!
Finally after nearly 3 yrs of owning my rex i get full boost each and every time. Took me better part of 4 hours yesterday to change the solenoid over and check the others, the only faulty one was the one for the CCV. Bit of a moment of panic when i started the engine and loads of smoke appeared, then i realised that when i sprayed the CCV with WD40 that it had dripped onto the turbo and that was causing the smoke! DOH!
Took the rex out for a little drive yesterday, 1 and 1/2 hours of happy boosting later and she is still fine. I\'m a very happy chappie now!
Thanks to eveyone who has offered help and advice!
