Oxfordshire based newbie

Hi there,

Just got my car a week ago and wondered if there are any other owners around Oxford?

I saw a sweet looking white RX up by kidlington a few weeks ago but can\'t say I\'ve spotted any others.

Would love to meet up with another owner and maybe pick up some advice and guided tour of the engine bay?  
Have to confess that I\'ve never really got my hands dirty on that front in the past but would like to educate myself so I don\'t do anything inappropriate (or get ripped off!)

I\'ve got a couple of things to take care of on Saturday, but if you can give me the details I\'ll try to make it.  Not too confident that I\'ll get free early enought to drive over to Cambridge though...

Smifta,  Haven\'t seen your car about but I tend to be at the other side of Town.  Home is Bicester and my office is a couple of minutes from the Cutteslowe roundabout.
Can you send me an e-mail and we can sort out some time to meet up? - I have an RB with back seats - though I\'m not sure why cos there ain\'t a lot of space back there so would love to see how it looks without them in your car.

P.S. The cars black \'96 import - bought from another club member just over a week ago.  

Haven\'t taken any pics since I bought it, but here\'s one I got from the previous owner.  The condition is incredible!! - hope I can keep it just as well!

My sister lives in Oxford and i can normally do Oxford to Cambridge in 1 hour 30 mins (best time is 58 mins )

Just got my car back from Bicester Car Audio.  
Aon insisted on a Cat 1 alarm so off she went this morning to have her security system upgraded and have a CD changer fitted at the same time.

Had to work from home all day and picked the motor up about half an hour ago.  All seems to work okay except one little thing that I\'m seriously p***ed off about!  The car is now so bloody secure that you can\'t actually open the drivers door from the inside.:confused:
Had to have the window down and open using the outside handle!  Wait till I get my hands on that guy....:bandit

I\'ll post again once I see how he deals with this almighty cock-up.
Alex, I\'ll drop you an e-mail once I have spoken to them tomorrow Will be heading there as soon as I can get out of the office tomorrow.  Might have to negotiate an afternoon off work now.

That is really bad. Did you get a motor installed into the driver side for remote central locking? The guys who installed my alarm said the mechanism was a bit tricky and it took them a while to get it right. I had to get a motor in my passenger side too.

Right then.

Apparently he\'s not open this afternoon...!?
So after 3 minutes of explaining that I\'m not pleased he\'s going to be there and fix it this afternoon.  gotta get the car there for four so should be okay for this evening.

The car had central locking from the drivers side, but it needed a servo to activate that from the pass door.

Basically, the locks work fine, but it looks like he not put things back together properly.  It literally is the door handle that ain;t hooked up right and doesn\'t open the door.  Got to use the door handle on the outside just now.

Have been reliably informed that it is now in fact illegal to drive because of this so I can smell a partial refund coming - Heh, heh, heh.:cool

Nick, sorry bud, wasn\'t being rude, just p**sed off bout the car last night.  What colours your car?  was it the white one I saw a few weeks back?

Well the door now opens from inside and out.

The guy put the motor for the central locking so close to the door handle that it was jamming the lever from pulling the cable enough.

15 minute job and it\'s fixed.:cool

Still waiting on a part for the stereo and a new fascia Will be interesting to see if I\'m asked to pay for that.

Learning curve I think.  Get someone that knows that the RX is not quite an ordinary car and doesn;t treat it as such.

no worries i would be pissed off aswell if my door didnt open! i think the idea of a partial refund is most acceptable;)

My car is a red J plate. outside she is pretty standard with just some different 16" alloys. Not sure even sure wot they are to be honest! but all is about to change hopefully in the next few weeks with the arrival of some bbs

Under the hood has , apexi induction kit, hks ssq bov, apexi power fc, full de catted racing beat exhaust system. then got a few other bits like gauges inside. ill try and get some piccys up for you guys when i get my stolen digicamera back!

Not sure your cat 1 alarm is the same as mine - but my doors lock about 10 secs after moving off and the doors won\'t open until I turn the engine off or manually release the door lock lever.

Bit of a pain when dropping someone off or just picking them up.

I would be forever locking my keys in my car if I had this !!!!
I did consider adding this anti-carjacking thing to my set-up, but I though better of it! I know what I\'m like.
