Got my car mapped yesterday and wanted to know peoples thoughts
Its a 92 FD with
Apexi with commander
uprated ally rad
sard FPR
big trust fmic with greedy elbow
wgt decat
tanabe zaust
apexi filters
air pump and all that gone
running 0.8 boost

Its was being MOT\'d as well round the corner and Pip said with the time we had he got 95% of it done but I needed to set of home so never gave it another run on the dyno when it came back from the MOT, needed it safe for emissions to pass and pip said it was very safe and only running 0.8 boost

Pip had to do a mod to the pump as it was not using the 12V it should have been so he had to add a new relay, which took power from the battery and was activated by the pump relay from the front of the car.

Had to run so only get a brief chat with Pip on the dyno read out any explanation would be appreciated, missed a call back from him today for a chat, so thought I would post on here for info

Next on the mod list are HKS down pipe, up rated pump and extra injectors also upping the boost.

Also anyone know if I can just alter the boost on the PFC I know it has a high and low setting or would this depend on the map? I will be asking Pip just thought someone may know on here.

Cheers

Morning, if you increase the boost, the fuel needs increasing to match, otherwise you will run lean at the top end of boost.  Therefore, the PFC would need tweeking.  YOu can get round this if you have a A/Fuel ratio meter (in the exhaust) where you can measure your ratios in the exhaust gases, which will tell you how the engine is burning the mixture - then gently increase the boost, keeping a careful eye on the mixture.
Personally I would not make any adjustments unless you have had it done by a rotary specialist.  The last thing you want is to get an extra 40bhp to have your engine let loose shortly after!

I dont understand why you are asking this question on here. None of us know what the state the fuel map is in at the upper portions.

You need to get the job finished properly before you can up the boost. You cant run before you can walk.

Eddie

Hi thanks for the replies, well asking questions on here as I have found this place very frienldy and helpful in the past.
I have no knowledge of mapping what so ever so thanks for advising on upper portions of fueling on the map, you see I am trying to learn and ask question frequently or how else am I to learn, simple really, not trying to run just trying to crawl and upping boost was only part of the question.

The main one being what are people thoughts on the current power with mods listed? and any other info on wha the readouts mean on the sheet, the rest was really just some back ground and of course boost Q.

Anyway thanks for taking time out to reply to my thread any other advise welcome.

Think the power at 0.8 bar is spot on with those mods IMO, nice result  :Thumbs-up

chrisJDM

sounds about right for the mods you have mate :Thumbs-up

Eddie

Thats good to know thanks guys, the thing feels pritty quick and responds well.
Did all the mods myself so pleased it still ran :) really.

Seeing about 79 on water temp and 19 air on motorway, going 83 with air con on and 35 air in stand still traffic.

Thanks for responding at least I know is about standard with those mods on 0.8 great.

QuoteGillard28, I dont understand why you are asking this question on here.
I don\'t understand why you post on here if you don\'t understand why Lee asked several questions! if you cant help.

From this many members including me can learn that mapping can be done to help with emmisions for an MOT, brilliant!

From this we can learn that a relay at the front can cause problems with the fuel pump not getting enough voltage, which could cause serious damage!brilliant!

From this it looks like Lee would appreciate an explanation, which he has not got yet!

A lot of fellow members do take an interest in what mods other guys do to thier cars,
QuoteEddie,

This looks like another question to me, which i for one would also like to know the answer to, The reply from Dazir was spot on! very helpful and very informative to us all. (Good thread Eddie Thanks,)

This is a Club , somewhere to seek help! share info, or just generally chat about the cars, which is what the club is for, some may know it all,  many like to learn, i just thought i would explain that for you, so that you do understand why guys ask questions you don\'t seem to understand,

From the graph and the info on line if you can give him a good idea of the map then you are a better man than I....

can you tell and afr or egt data from the graphs ??????

you need to get it finished or get the stuff and do it your self. I talk from much experiance..

Eddie

Hi Gillard thanks again for responding, I am in no way even remotly experienced enough to attempt any of this my self. just curious as to whats whats on the graph, even if you gave me a good idea of the map it would mean nothing to me.

The mapping is finished I used the term 95% but it was meant as a "we could get a few more bhp\'s out but lets do MOT first" its just palying it safe, a few extra ponnies could have been got I am sure but I run more risk of maxing out my injectors and running lean is that what they say? I think?.

Just really a polite discussion on what people thought, dont want any tech info thrown my way it would be wasted on me.

Will be chatting to PIP when hes back from hol to get the low down on whats next.

Glad you got experience would you care to share some of your thoughts on the graph with me please?

things like the dip in the graphwhen second turbo kicks in could this be smoothed out more?, or maybe is this bhp what you may expect to see genrally from a motor with these mods?, or maybe if the PFC has 2 boost settings Hi and low would you have to run 2 maps, should the tuner have set this up for me. Simple stuff really but not having the experience you have I have no idea of such things.

Thanks again

Hey Eddie hows the car running? think Pip has started looking at my car so ill be speaking to him later this week.

Eddie

Hi Dave hows thing mate, cars running brill, nice idle, good power, great service from WGT again, I am pleased just had to run due to work so did not get chance to speak to Pip as much as I would have liked.

But ll in all i am pleased witht he result, you know always want more horses, but its running really nice, even pip said its still strong and doesn\'t miss a beat, which is good seeing as its been in my garage now for 2 years and not really run.

Saw your car has it been started yet?

Cheers

Dave99uk

not sure pip said he have news this week not spoke to him yet since, he aint phoned me. How long ago was that i met u there?

gillard28

Its hard to say with out the data. I would be guessing really. But i would say it is a touch rich at high end.
