if i come up against the new m3 it will have to be :flamed       007 style lol.
looks like i will order it off nengun as well tommorow and just wait for it as it will be worth the wait so could also buy the holder as well with the money saved.

you did well to beat a M3, was it smg or do ya know? ive raced my dad and my brother in there e46 m3s with smg and pull away only a small bit on both of them(one is convert and other is a coupe). mods are pfc full exhaust and filters.   the e30 m3 is slow tho lol but sooo much fun to drive.

nice pic they got of there cars out side work. all the MMMMMMMMMs:chat

Hi guys, ex FD owner here, and now have a 02 M3 cabrio. A stock FD would NOT pull away from an E46 M3! My FD was fast but wouldn\'t pull away from an M3, let alone get infront! ALOT more torque and power than the FD. I loved my FD loads but the M3 is in a different league. 343BHP vs 255BHP? Yes, the M3 is heavier but also more horsepower and puts down more torque.

That silver e30 m3 above is a bit special. I\'d love to have one of those.

I used to have an E36 Evo and in a straight line 321bhp felt very quick.
I\'ve raced E46 M3\'S and there isnt much in it due to the E46 is heavy

If the FD and an M3 was starting from the mark then i\'d put my money on a standard FD until 120mph (in a straight line) but if both cars started from 40+mph the torque and power delivery in the M3 is so constant the FD would struggle bigtime IMO.

With an Apexi PFC i think an FD would p*ss on its chips all the way then hehe

only one slight difference mine is a 1999 so has more bhp as standard and did pull away from him in third briefly-i think whilst he was changing gear lol but never realised how quick they were-I DO NOW!!!

That\'s why i said a 320bhp fd is an even match for a stock E46. My fd is 320bhp/279ft.Ibf. Stock E46 M3 us model 333bhp/262ft.Ibf. Obviously M3 is heavier than fd. I think my fd would be just a bit more quicker IMO I agree that a stock fd would NOT pull on a E46. Trouble is with the fd is that it\'s so good, owners think it will beat everything. Just not true though.

i agree i assumed my fd would beat an m3 but when i couldnt lose him i was a bit suprised, but one good thing to come out of it i have now finally ordered my apexi from nengun which i have been going on about getting for nearly 2 years lol.
how much more bhp would that add to my 99fd??

Paul1982

I\'m not 100% sure with the 99 model what bhp levels you\'d gain but i\'d def get a de-cat pipe to go with it as it should make a good difference with it.

How long\'s a piece of string? It depends on how much money your willing to throw into it. To get the most on a stock engine you should upgrade injectors, fuel pump, fit better intercooler and decat the car. All this could cost another £600+ on top of the £300-400 mapping fee. Also it depends what tuner you take it to. Some squeese more power from them.

I had a uk spec standard fd and could not keep up with my mates brand new M3.:Nono! At that point i was gutted to see him gunning me every time we went out.  I bought a single turbo straight away and we went out again:3gears-rh this time i was keeping up with him but no big pull aways.

I then got the car mapped to 1bar with water injection with boost controller etc and that was it:burnout Every time we were out i gave him good run for his money.  He has since got M5 now (*******) :Nono!

to start with i will just do the apexi as i cant stop spending at the mo.then i will get a decat and remove air pump later.
i am getting a mate of lum to do it as he has done a few peoples cars on here.
