Hi chappies

Need to swap flywheel over to new engine. But how do I remove it?

I have the nut loose, of course.

It seems that most people end up having to hit it with a hammer, even if you do have a puller. I dont have a puller, but I suppose I could make one out of angle iron quite easily.

I also read about one method of forcing some wedges behind the flywheel and then helping it with a hammer.

How did you remove yours?

Jit

hammer... blah blah blah making up characters

Remove the nut and heat the flywheel up around the E-shaft for 5 minuits with a blowtorch, then tap it with a hammer around the edge of the flywheel. Works every time

Martiny

Thanks Robbie

Oh, well, off to buy a blowtorch then.....

Speedworks

look at the Pineappleracing.com website for the video. One tap and it\'s lose

antnicuk

wedge a crow behind it while tapping it with a small hammer.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

How\'s the motor going together Martin? Mine is finally mapped, woot!

Martiny

Paul the last few bits arrived from Gary yesterday. My old engine is out, and all ancilleries swapped over to your engine.

I need to :
Re-fit Turbo pack.
Re-fit flywheel ( away for grinding)
replace Idler bearing
re-Fit clutch
Re-fit Water pump

Then I am ready to put the engine in the car.

Amazingly, for me, I have only broken 1 tiny little bolt so far!

nikp

You did go and get the flywheel skimmed in the end then?

Martiny

Yes, Nik. The good (bad) news is that it had a high spot on it. So I hope my clutch judder is fixed. He looked at the pressure plate, and cant skim that, as its mounted on springs - so he cant get a flat finish.

THe pressure plate ( and the clutch plate) are fairly new, so I will re-use them, after cleaning up the pressure plate with water paper.
