hi guys new to turbos and im having a few problems i have a twin stock turbo gen 3 and currently have an asma cat back system recently took out the cat with a straight through pipe to get flames and a better rotary burble but im finding my boost gauge is going to high i have taken the reading from the top of the plenum one of those blanked plugs as sugested when under hard acceleration it boosts at around 15 psi but some times peaks at nearly 25  bit worried .
a friend who has a sky line went for a re map and he had boost creep so they couldnt map the liner properly and said the engine was too free flowing and should get rid of the exuast modds to stabilise the boost .
is this at all true and what can i do to stop this with mine ????
thanks alex

Hi Alex,
First thing is to not drive the car hard until this is sorted!!!!!
Your engine could be already damaged form this.
On a stock ecu the engine can only handle around 12psi boost.
To run around 13 to 14 psi you need an aftermarket ecu, that needs to be mapped for the mods you have and to control the boost.
If you can\'t do this route then put the exhaust back until you can.

Carl

would this also explain why some times i get a sudden drop in power like a miss fire or boost cut it sounds like i have anti lag some times goes fast a snot but spits flames like a bbq

one more thing sorry to be a pain if i did get an after market ecu to help control this boost how would they re map it if the boost isnt a constant ie like the sky line  ????
what ecu s do you recomend some thing like the e manage

If the zorst is that free flowing which i doubt re mapping the ecu wont stop the spike. I used to run a fully open 73mm zorst and never had creep as bad as you suggest. You need to get the car to a specialist to check the thing out. maybe there is a problem with the wastegate pr the stuff that controls it
25 psi is very excessive. I have never seen a stock car hit 25 psi... i dont think it is possible with a stock map sensor and stock ecu

batman

ok silly question any one know any rex specialists nears swindon

rex`s cant take mods many mods unless you fit an aftermarket ecu, everyone tend to go for the apexi fc and controller, cn pick one up fer £420 delivered new.. then once rempaed it`ll control the boost so shouldnt spike, but at 25psi im surprised it hasnt blown or caused major damae by now.. put the cat back on until u cn fit the apexi n remap the car..

U see your circumstances all the time on here bud, rotary engines are nothing like piston engine and are very fragile lol.. everything needs to be perfect or you`l blow yer engine..

best of luck..
