hi can anyone please  HELP ME!

story is thursday night my car was working fine and perfect. on the friday night i tried using it and all it was doing was turning over and that was it. just wouldnt start.

so i got a friend to help me out and see if we could find out what was wrong. we crossed out it was the spark plugs coz we changed then about a week ago. (but still double checked) it isnt the fuel pump because that seem like it was working. and the air in take was all good.

when u turn it over it was coming out with white smoke, smelling of petrol.

so can anyone please please help. and please dont say its a rebuild  coz i think i will cry!

Romfordboy

thanks. anyone else second it or got other thoughts?

Double check that you\'ve tightened the plugs properly and that the leads are securely attached.

I\'ll third it mate, lol!

Pop out the EGI fuse and turn it over in a few 5 sec bursts.  Then pop back in the fuse and try to start with either no gas or the pedal to the floor.  Then repeat as required.  It may take a few battery charges to re-start.  last time mine flooded it took two battery charges / days to start.

Good luck!

p.s.prepare for a massive cloud of white smoke when she does fire!

yep its a right royal pain in the arse you have just got to persevere .i never start mine with any accelerator at all and just let it tick over for a bit.
what used to do it was moving the car in and out of the garage whilst working on it and it flooded all the time when i did eventually get it started it popped and banged and smoked like a ba****d then take it out for a proper drive when warmed up.

just to let u all know. my engine was flooded. but it was due to my NEW spark plugs that i put in about a week maybe 2 weeks before. reason why i know it was my plugs? i put the old ones in and the engine started up first time. so brought them back to the shop i got them from and there going to send them back to NGK. BIG thanks guys for ur advise!

HI,
I have heard, and maybe someone can put me right if ive misunderstood, that even brand new plugs don\'t work well if youve flooded the engine. Maybe what you need to do is put ones from a flooded engine on a gas stove for a bit to make sure the petrol/oil mix all evaporates.

Brand new plugs will get wet with petrol and won\'t be able to spark.

Interestingly, I have a now 1 year old engine (approx 6000 miles on it) and it doesn\'t flood. I started it this morning, turned it off after i forgot something, and it re-started straight away! :D I\'ve done this several times now, so it wasn\'t just lucky!

I seems to be hit or miss.

When I first got my car I would pull it out the garage and knock it straight off all the time.  It was only when I fully read up that I heard about flooding.  Experienced it 3 times now in almost 3 years.

Just the luck of the draw i guess!

anyways its the plugs. so what plugs am i meant to be using? because im using the old one and there leading and trailing but the NGK book says all 4 the same.

NGKBUR9EQP x4 probably the ones u bought lol.
they were probably just coated with fuel and just needed heating up with blow lamp i sometimes put them in hot when i am desperate but probably not recommended.
set for sale here which would save u £20 providing they r new.
