I`ve just done a BB conversion and am no bleeding the brakes and clutch and the pedal is still spongy.

During the conversion (abs removed aswell) most of the fluid was removed from the system so the master cylinder was emptyish. I`ve bled the brakes and clutch in the correct order. There were no more bubbles from the brake system, just clean fluid. The clutch is a different story. There is a steady stream of very small bubbles. Just when you think they have stopped another load come through any ideas why this is??

While pressing the brake peddle after bleeding you can hear some slight air noise in the master cylinder itself, does this have anything to do with the clutch? Could the seals in the master cylinder have rolled and therefore failed? Or should I just keep pumping away?

I`m just not getting anymore air from the brakes while bleeding yet the peddle is still spongy.

There are no leaks!!

Is this on a FD ?? It could be that the clutch slave cylinder is not in the best condition or it has gone passed the end of its stroke.

What are you using to bleed the system with ?

We\'ve got exactly the same problem with a mates impreza after fitting tarox 6 pots! We\'ve bled the system about 3 times & it\'s driving me crazy!

Ah I`ve got wilwood 6 pots.

Calling all 6 potters, whats the deal??

I suppose it could be that I need a larger master cylinder, the peddle is stiffish but I can push it to the floor. Luckily my turbos still broken so I`m in no rush

As the brake and clutch share the same cyl Id be inclined to re-new seals as your are upgrading the brakes its a worth while job, the seals are probably 10-14 yrs old.

had the same prob the bigger caliper needs more fluid so i fitted a bigger master cylinder..i think its the mazda 926 ..feed do a kit..re worx supplied and fitted mine also dont forget to start with furthest brake from the master

benRX7

Yeah its the 929 master cylinder, I`m trying to source one from the states as I don`t want to pay the silly money for the feed one which is the same with a logo on it (no offence Geff still can`t beat that exchange rate:) )

My other thought is to possibly go for a racing peddle box setup something like this  http://www2.obp.uk.net/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=32_37_52_60_85&products_id=135&osCsid=c2f14bfa45534350fd7ab31ed3b65896

Means loosing the servo though, I guess as my cars basicly a track car it would be ok.

Any suggestions along the lines of master cylinder upgrades?

the 929 will solve the prob just get some pipes made up..the feed ones had to be modded anyway
