Hi guys, just got a few quick ones about the FC.

Sorry if they\'ve all been asked before...

1.) What differences are there between the N/A and the turbo. As in, would it be a good idea to buy a solid N/A and put the turbo lump in, or is there a whole heap of other complications?

2.) Are parts such as coilovers, poly bushes etc easily come by, and what are the 2nd prices normally like?

3.) What diffs do they come with? I\'m gussing the N/A would have an open diff and the turbo would have a fairly week slippy diff?

4.) I\'ve seen one advertised with 4wheel steering. How many of them have that, and is it easy to get rid of?

Cheers!

You probably want to swap over the whole drive train, and I wouldn\'t be surprised if parts of the loom are different - well, they *will* be. And you\'ll need the ECU.

That said, it\'s not a bad idea, but a heck of a lot of work. I\'d go look for a T2 with a good bodyshell and a blown engine instead.

You\'ll have to look harder for those than FD parts but I\'d most of this is available, yes. You may have to get it from the States or Japan, though.

They all have passive rear wheel steering and as long as everything\'s in good condition I don\'t see any reason why you would want to disable it.

Cheers for that matey.

The reason I wouldn\'t want the 4WS - I\'m into that drifty lark, so it would screw me up a little bit... well alot.

passive rear steering can be eliminated with some solid bushings...theyre about 50 ish quid from the states from memory. would take about a day to fit them though as they arent easily accesible...
aftermarket bits are fairly well available but youll have a fair bit more trouble finding them than FD parts...
as for what to buy, im sure theres a few solid TIIs still about!

As one2watch says, someone in the States (I think it\'s Racing Beat) does solid bushings to eliminate the passive steering.

I\'d say that you probably need a different diff for drifting; the other potential problem is that depending on how much power you\'re after, it may well be more expensive to get the car up to that kind of level compared to an FD. So if you\'re after an FC for monetary reasons instead of having something different/cooler/whatever, then you may want to rethink that idea :).

Timo, i suspect topi would be looking to attack the FCs open diff with a welder !!
Theyre ok going sideways in the wet...i loved my open diff TII on the rondabouts on a nice cold winters night!

grinder

the DTSS are about £35 and it would take you a day to chage them

have a search for DTSS and my username

Uh oh, rumbled haha.

I\'m mainly after an FC because well... I think an FD is just too nice for me. I like the older square feel of the FC. And plus they\'re cheaper..

Power isn\'t too much of an issue. 220+ is more than enough.

Cheers for the help guys, I\'ll look into these bushes

The EGI (N/A) has a slightly thicker floor, which is why they tend to be in better condition (body and rust wise) so an engine, loom and tranny transplant makes sense, but it is a LOT of work! If you can find a TII with a good body go for it.

No reason why you can\'t get an extra 30-40 ponies out of the FC for not a lot of outlay (just ask Grinder ;) )

Just to add you can get a Torsen LSD for the FC - they\'re advertised on ebay often enough.

Having said that, welding one up is going to make it ****ty to drive on joe public roads, but more fun at the drift tracks.

I have a TII with a blown engine that I might be interested in getting rid of. Email me for details Adrianreed27@yahoo.co.uk
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!
