Another silly noob question, is there only one specific model that the commander works with? or is it capable of working with other Apex\'i FD ECUs?

Each Commander is specifc to a range of Apexi ECU\'s

You can match the serial no (giving the ECU type) to the accepted serial no of the commander.

early ECu\'s were 8bit, later ones were 16bit. then there are differences in the year of car they\'re for.

don\'t buy it unless you\'re sure.

Just checked my serial:

PFC fd3s2 9912-0007

Doesn\'t match up with any of Apex\'i s part numbers - am I missing something here? :O

Apexi model info

Apexi release the Power FC ECU in three different flavours:

1. 414-Z001 (FD3S1) - this fitted the 1995-1998 fd\'s.
2. 414-Z002 (FD3S2) - this fitted the 1991-1995 fd\'s.
3. 414-Z003 (FD3S3) - this fitted the 1998 on fd\'s.

After a short while Apexi then upgraded the software version and made the chip in the ECU soldered non-removable, unlike those above where the chip was a pin type and could be removed.

re-release

Apexi re-released the Power Fc\'s serving the same purposes but with different serial and part numbers:

4. 414-Z004 (FD3S4) - this fitted the 1991-1995 fd\'s.
5. 414-Z005 (FD3S5) - this fitted the 1995-1998 fd\'s.
6. 414-Z006 (FD3S6) - this fitted the 1998 on fd\'s.

Nowadays you will find that all new power fc\'s sold new are one of the three later models. The most common over here is the 414-Z004 this is simply due to the fact that there are more 1991-1995 cars out there.

Commanders

COMMANDER (this is generally where people get confused)

With each of the models of Power Fc that Apexi released the provided a hand held interface module called the Commander. With the commander you could read/monitor all the parameters that were accesable through the Apexi Power FC ECU. The commander also gives the ability to Write SOME commands to the ECU (for full mapping capabilities a specific software package is required, this is called DATALOGIT).

POWER FC NUMBER---------------------COMMANDER NUMBER

414-Z001 --------------------------------415-Z001
414-Z002 --------------------------------415-Z001
414-Z003 --------------------------------415-Z001
414-Z004 --------------------------------415-Z002
414-Z005 --------------------------------????????? (doesnt say)
414-Z006 --------------------------------415-X001
