Hi guys.

Hoping to attempt to remove my diff in the next few days and was doing a search for a workshop manual or guide but was pretty unsuccessful - I see the website the manual used to be on - iluvmyrx7 is no longer available. Anyone have a manual or know where to get one? Even a guide or advice on removing the diff would be grand! Planning to remove it in the carrier (therefore still attached to the mounts etc) which I hope is easier.

Plan was to: remove exhaust, drain oil, unbolt the prop, remove the driveshafts, undo the 4 bolts (i think) on the power frame and then the 2 diff mount bolts.

I have probably missed something - any help or advice appreciated!

Cheers,
Paul

Sounds like you\'ve got it sorted in your head atleast:Laugh . Thats the way i did it and others have used the same techinque.
How are you going to jack the car? If you don\'t have access to a garage with a set of ramps, try and get the car as high as you can as you\'ll be crawling on your back all the way to the gearbox.. You\'ll need to unbolt the power frame from the gearbox as well and loose the exhaust from the down pipe back. Don\'t forget to support the gearbox when everything is disconnected. The prop shafts will pop out quite easily. Getting them back in is the tricky part:) Good luck

Cheers Pete!

Thankfully my garage has a pit so working on it isn\'t a problem! Just need a plank across the pit under the gearbox to jack it up! So am I removing the whole power frame then if i\'m unbolting it from the gearbox? If so would it be easier to unbolt it from the gearbox and drop the diff out with it still attached to it? I\'ve only looked under briefly so I\'m not sure how the power frame is attached to the underside!
Any tips for refitting driveshafts since I can\'t mark the diff as i\'m replacing it!?

As pete says, remove the exhaust up until the downpipe (ie backbox and cat section). Then remove all 9 PPF retaning nuts (5 that hold it to the diff and 4 to the gearbox) support the gearbox with a jack. Then remove both driveshafts from the diff..you might have to loosen off some of the suspension to allow the hub to manouvre away from the diff to let the shafts come out. support the diff with a jack and then undo the two remaing bolts which hold the diff to the subframe..theyre the ones behind the diff casing...knock the bolts thru and then slowly lower the assembly...itll come out with the prop shaft..i just use the gun to disconnect the prop...

Thanks for that! I have it clear in my head at least! I\'m also replacing the bushes in the rear suspension at the same time so i\'ll probably have the rear suspension loose! Going to take a while but i\'ll get there in the end!

Can anyone recommend what diff oil I buy? Grade etc.
