Quote from: declasmIt sounds like you\'ve got too much gas in there, I had a similar problem with mine when I first had it regassed and the air-con guy and I diagnosed that the compressor was cutting out as the pressure was too high.
thats possible i never noticed the compressor cutting in and out intill it was regassed and the compressor seems to run all the time if i leave the bonnet open and just idle maybe the heat under the bonnet is making the gas expand and raising pressure to much?

scratchies

ive got ac regassing machine i try to lower the level of gas then try and let you all no what the gas weight is ie it should be 600g

as its not going to cost me other than time

weird after a bit of messing around ie putting some more gas in then letting a load out because the pressure got kinda high and a bit of smoke came out of my compressor:Hammer tryed it again on the way home and it was blowing -1.1 degrees at me sure it wont last though im now thinking its something to do with the pressure switch or pressure of gas if i link it out the compressor runs all the time with no cut out

mine worked all weekend at santapod while i was using the car as a body cooling machine lol

Mine will run slightly cooler when i leave the bonnet open as suggested, still not cold enough though me thinks....

if its not to good and dont blow cold for long, it needs regassing, altho some of the older rex\'s like mine have diffrent gas in them that is no longer available, and have been told (not 100%) that its now illigal, you can get adaptors to put the new gas in them but it eats the seals out of the pump...so iv been told

hi, the early fd (92/93) run on r12 gas which was banned as it kills the ozone, later ones run on r134a, they use different oils in the system which is why you cant just refill an r12 system with r134- it will destroy the compressor.
you can buy an adative which will allow the r134 gas to be used, but the proper route is for the  system to be cleaned of the r12 style oil and re filled with the proper grade oil for r134 gas. when running the system should cycle in and out as it regulates the pressure to keep optimum temp - time running will depend on factors like outside temp, how fast the blower is running if you have it on re-circ ect. some systems are just more efficient than others and haveing it set on centre vents, medium speed and setting the air to re-circ will help alot(so you dont pull in warm air from outside). also keeping the windows closed helps. if you take it for a regas the dealer should be able to moniter the system working with a high and low pressure gauge - this will tell him if it is ok or if there is a problem. jon.

mines never worked, went to get it sorted and was told could not use the old type gas and would have to convert it to take new, so left it and use windows :Laugh
