Hey peeps have a bit off a odd one here... the pulleys on my engine have been replaced with the feed ones :) bonus huhh lol.. but heres the thing... the airpump has been disconected and bypassed as most people do, but the essentric shaft pulley has adjusters fitted but dosnt spin in a perfect circle, more like a cam kinda movment? is there any reason for this? done a search n spoke to a few at rotorstock but noone seems to understand why its setup like it is.. also will it be causing damage because it runs perfect..

cheers

Do you have a pic of it?

You are right in saying it should spin in a circle and not out of center, So is the Crank pulley aftermarket too?? maybe its just not set up correctly if it can be ajusted? or maybe its been damaged? May be worth taking it off and have a play with it (see if there is any signs of it being knocked).

It wants sorting because the pulley will be effectivly tightening the belt and slackening it every rev, so you properly have the belt set to slack and it should\'nt damage anything but if the belt is set Tight in the wrong place it will Goose your Alt fairly quick.

if i remove it, was planing on doing this anyways, will the timing or anything be all messed up? or is it just a case of it powering the other pulleys using the belt? soz for the noob questions lol..

Does the belt move up and down when it\'s running? Could just be an optical illusion?

But it is more likely something is wrong.

How do the replacement pulleys work? Is the whole hub replaced? Or is the pulley replaced on the hub?

The timing, in theory, shouldnt be affected, because the pulley has a "key" slot in it, and the key holds the pulley to the right place on the shaft. At the back of the pulley you see a circular disc with lots of holes in it, this is what the ECU uses to "see" where the shaft is. I doubt this has been moved, and I also doubt it would start if the timing was out.

Adjusters on the pulley - that sounds weird... yes we need some pictures of that.

i`ll take some pics n a video if i can lol..

kk some pics and a video, dosnt look as bad as i thought but still not a perfect circular movement, think im paranoid :P is this normal?

I thought the bottom one on your video was your water pump pulley. Could be wrong (often are:2Rolleyes ) but i wouldnt like to see that sort of movement from something as important as that.

On the Vid the large Bottom one is the Crank (black one) the next up is water pump and the top is Alt.

I would say that that it has an Inner Underdriving pulley fitted and it doesn\'t look like its sat properly on the Cranks Mounting.

The thing on the front isn\'t an Ajuster, its a form of Locking washer (not sure how exactly it works but if you take the four bolts out you will find the holes are not elongated.

TBH it doesn\'t look as bad as i thought it would, it would be worth taking them off and cleaning the mating surfaces (just so they are sat flat) and if its still doing it maybe stick a stocker back on and see if its the Cranks mounting plate or the pulleys.

Grizzly

O yeh before you take it all apart mark the Positions, its not realy important but because the bolt holes are not symmetrical the bolts will only go in one way (bit of a pain if there are a few Pulleys and you can\'t see when there lines up properly.

Also there are two sensors on the PS side of the Crank pulley try not to Knock them, they control the timing and have to be treated with respect.

its gunna be a knightmare to remove these aint it? :S cheers for the input :P not a major prob then.. i`ll try n remove it all tomoz n go fae there..

Don\'t bother removing the main 19mm es bolt in the middle. If you did and then removed the whole pulley assembly, you run the risk of dislodging the torrington bearings and then it will be a MAJOR job to correct it. You will be ok in removing the 4 little bolts though, as said just mark it with a screwdriver

Good point ^ That would create a world of Pain if that happened.
