looks like i wont be making it to rotorstock :2Rolleyes
picked car up from dragon on monday after having a load of work done( v-mount apexi ecu dump valve bosch o44 fuel pump de-cat battery relocation diff brace etc...) she dosent seem to want to hold any water. took it back to dragon today ross took the sender unit for temp gauge out of filler neck as was leaking. put new cap on.Ross kindly drove it 20 miles back to me hoping it was sorted as no other visible signs of leaking. everything was fine on way back but when he stopped coolant light came on. Left it for 2 hours then checked coolant had to put approx 250ml in. checked 1 hour later once again is gone.Wierd thing is though temps aren,t going above 86 thers no lose of power and no white smoke.

I give up :3Confused  looks like rebuild time thorugly p***ed off this would have been my first rotorstock and was looking forward to it.

mate sounds like you have a leak water seals dont just eat all the water without symptoms.

dont jump the gun like some and waste money early mate.

you can get all the advice you need!

first thing to do is fill coolant, start the car from cold jack the front up and you watch from above and get a m8 to watch from below and look for leaks or just get a coolant tester on it which will tell you if there are ANY combustion gasses in the coolant. if not then your question is answered. these cost a fiver from anywhere!!

white smoke??

sludge in coolant - more than normal and on dip stick

etc etc there are alot of symptoms for water seal failiure mate.

Hi Lee real real sad to read this post,

Did you have water problems before the V mount was fitted if not could it be an air lock?

If you had no problems ask Ross if he has had air lock problems etc with his set up.

Also are you hearing any gurgling/thumping sounds from the water system?

I know its not the same but even if you don\'t bring the car try and get along as it\'s the biggest Rotary social event of the year.
All the best Clive

^^ wot he said - sounds more like an air lock than water seals from my limited experience!

done loads off cars over 15 and if i drain a system ill fill  it up and loosen the hose that goes to the heater matrix to let the air out, you could try that mite help

i can guide you on how to get 100% of the air out of the system mate.

nw im confused as hell. got home from work thought i would start looking for leaks in the vain hope of sorting it in time for rotorstock and most of the water i put in last night still seems to be there. ran it up to temp will let it cool down now and hope water levels are ok. If i do manage to get to rotorstock is there anyone who would take a look at it and hopefully sort my problem out

Thanks

Lee the coolant levels can take a while to adjust themselves,if there is no signs of visible water leak, keep topping up and hope for the best,:Thumbs-up

How far do you have to travel to get to Santa Pod?  If it was me I wouldnt risk it until I was sure the problem was sorted - if it overheats you could end up increasing your bill size considerably!

Or take out AA/RAC cover first!!    :)
