my rx7 turbo 2 cabriolet is running great in every way exept one, now im not sure if im being fussy and there is no problem so i hope someone can help.
when the car starts and engine is running there is a slight wirring(not good spelling or technical term)sound coming from what appears to be engine area, nothing load but its there.
yet when the clutch is down this stops and all you hereis the purr of the engine.
any ideas:3gears-lh :driving

ps
see you all on the weekend thats going.
hope weathers good for us cab drivers:2eek

Noisy thrust bearing (AKA release bearing).

mbanarch

any ideas how to sort that one out then
please

RobbieRX-7

Big job mate. Gotta remove the gearbox or engine, remove clutch to get to the release bearing. It\'s good practice to replace the clutch disk along with a new bearing

my god sounds like its gonna cost a bit tho.
is it a major problem or can the car run ok as is for now.

thanks for the help

Martiny

The car can run fine.
As a matter of interest, do you hold your foot on the clutch pedal between gear changes?

mbanarch

i dont think so but will check for surewhen take her out.
just struckme odd that it only happens when clutch is out or in nutral.

Martiny

it doesnt happen when the clutch is out and car is in gear?

mbanarch

when car is moving its either gone or not much noise so cant notice it.
ill probably go for fact cant notice it more than its gone.
do you think it be expensive for garage to carry out the work.
