Has anyone any experience with these?

Any advice would be great....just really starting to look into the rebuild now and i fancy doing it myself  :)

That seems a very good price Adam:)

The only other i Know of in the US is racing beat and obvioulsy hurley in the UK. But they are alot more $$$$$ than the one you\'ve found.

they are very good prices indeed. I got mine from atkins rotary. They were very helpfull and it was a good service, plus they have a video for first timers like me.
Their kits are a bit more expensive than that though.

Adam,

I braught their installation gasket set. $163 jobbie. They seemed like a nice bunch of people when I talked to them on the phone and I recieved the gaskets with no problems at all.

Of course Apex seals are a completly different story.

Thanks guys....my next question is ...who has done a rebuild?  i want to street port mine as i plan to go single turbo after the engine is run in....how did you go about doing this, did you send the parts away to be done?????

i did exactly that, i had a 1996 twin turbo, almost stock. The engine died so i took it out, ported it, rebuilt it, converted it to a single turbo with all other bits required. The lot cost me less than 2K to do. exc the Apexi which i already had. I\'m not a mechanic i just bought a video. The whole thing took me 3  months doing it one day a weekend and the occasional evening or day off. It is possible! I have done 1600 miles in mine and touch wood she is running well.  If you want more details PM me and i will give you my phone number as it will take ages to type it all.

so what would it take for a relative novice ie only know what a spark plug does to do a rebuild, also have heard it is easier to do a rebuild if the engine has not totally gone like for instance the apex seals all over the engine.
Also when you say 2k to do the rebuild is that the same bits as you get from rotary aviation.
Finally does anyone know the seals you get from rotary aviation the 2mm or 3mm cheers.

2K was for a rebuild kit, and to convert to single turbo with front mount i/c, new turbo, new manifold, new wastegate, complete exhaust, bigger injectors, extra fuel pump (i now have 2),  and all little bits and pieces like fuel filters, plugs, oil etc etc.   You need to have some knowledge on engineering measurements to make sure the parts you put back are ok. You are right in what you say about it generally being better to rebuild it before it dies as you will often destroy ra rotor, rotor housing and maybe even a turbo if you are really unlucky.  I wouldnt want to put one back as standard as the wiring and plumbing is so fragile due to the heat.  When you convert to single turbo, you throw most if not all the solanoids away and you only need 5 or so vacume pipes.

I am not a mechanic but i am lucky enough to have lots of tools and i have had rx7s for over ten years although the FD was the first i rebuilt myself.

Someone in the Northwest is compiling a full comprehensive rebuild kit including a vhs or dvd instruction manual. If I recall correctly it was Grizzly (but I could be wrong). I don\'t know how far they got with this but it may be worth asking.

Sean

It was JUS....... He was compiling a comprehensive rebuild kit with instructions for the novice:rolleyes:
