The left hand side coolant expansion tank isn\'t supposed to leak when adding coolant am I right?

Think mines got a little split cos when I had the rad flushed the other day they tried to top it up using the over flow tank(left one)and it leaked... until I told them to fill it using the centre one. I\'m off to WGT for a remap next week just wondering is the leak/split a big problem? cos its around 65miles to WGT and I don\'t wanna bust the engine by over heating.

I top it up everytime I drive it(once a week), and the coolant buzzer/light hasn\'t come on and temp is in the normal 70-90 range.

I\'ll get them to check it out anyway... but any help is much appreciated:)

It has an overflow pipe to let excess fluid out. Check the dipstick thingy, and if its on full then it should be ok. If its not then you have a split tank. :(

I thought mine was leaking when i topped it up so i took the bottle out to have a look. I found the filler neck was loose and also there is a rubber gromet with a 4mm hole in the top.  Not sure if anything is supposed to go in the gromet?. Bottle was fine apart from that.

Like Fish says theres a little hole at the top of the overflow tank allowing for excess to be controlled, when you next fill up look at the top of the tank and if you can see the coolant coming out of the top theres no problem, if not then you may have a split, but wgt will check for you anyhow.
