Hi, i`m having a problem with my RX7 and i`d like to know if you could help me!

Everytime i do some kilometeres with my car i have to put some water in the refrigeration system, and when i stop the car we can hear the water boiling and it looses a lot.. what could this be?..

Thanks

Sideways Steve

Possible water seal failure I guess? have you changed your coolant recently as maybe you simply have an airlock?

Before you start panicking about water seals, change the AST cap and filler neck cap. Make sure they are on the right way round (sprung cap on the AST, flat on the filler neck). What condition is your current AST cap in?

Undo coolant hose on the throttle body and prop the end up high. Take AST cap off, refill system very slowly (at the center filler neck, not the expansion tank or AST) and give the big hoses a squeezing while you\'re doing it to push any air out. when the water level gets near the top of the AST tank put the AST cap back on and continue until you can\'t get any more in. Re-attach the coolant hose at the throttle body without loosing too much coolant out of it.

You could also detach the small hose that comes into the side of the AST (the other end is attached to the expansion tank in front of drivers side wheel) and check it isn\'t blocked or become trapped and pinched - try blowing though it.

Start your engine - do you get lots of white steam out the exhaust?
Let it warm up and rev it real hard or go for a quick sprint down the road, pop the bonnet and give the rad hoses a squeeze, if they are rock hard it\'s possible your system is being over pressurised due to water seals on their way out.

If you suspect this to be the case, get down to any half reasonable garage and get them to do a hydrocarbon test on your coolant. This should tell you whether exhaust gasses are getting into your cooling system, if they are you\'ve most likely got water seal problems.

You really need to get it sorted asap, if it is the seals they can often deteriorate pretty quickly once they start and you don\'t want to do more damage by overheating.

or open the ast and run the engine, check for bubbles, if there isnt any, flush the system and take it for a run. should be fine then
