yeah mines insured for 15 thats what i want but thats different to what i may get thats why i might try auction style on e-bay after trying to get it in a mag-have e-mailed jap performance.
cheers john.

Although mines insured [guarantedd value] at 11 I doubt I would get that.

It\'s Oct 98 with 54k miles.

Yours is rare by way of age and milage i can\'t see you getting 15 although it may be worth that much there is so much choice.

ppl with that much money may well choose to buy an oder one and spend the money on modifications to their own spec.

good luck

John
I started with nothing and I have most of it left

D1 WTF

i think on a car of this (late) age and millage that fact that it is bodykitted etc (and in my opinion particularly the fact that the kit is veilside, cause you either love it or you hate it) is going to make the price suffer big time.

just my opinion.

Must admit I did think the same thing. I\'d sell my Granny for a late 99spec with standard body.

D1 WTF

sorry, had to write post in a hurry.  didnt mean for it to sound harsh etc.
it just seems that the majority of true 99 spec cars are prodinately left standard.  even engine work is rarely done, i guess because the engines dont normally need looking at due to age, so therefore you dont see much in the way of single conversions etc.  the only assumption i can make is because other than documentation there is nothing to say the car isnt the same as harrys 1992 FD down the road.  both have same kit.............

however the interior is nice, and the millage is stunningly low, so they are very big plus sides.  will ber intrested to see what you get for it.  out of interest do you still have the 99 spec bumper etc, because if you sell with that, it could make it more attractive to the buyer as they are rare to come by genuine ones.

I also agree with D1, A Veilside kitted 99+ is going to take one hell of a hit on the price.

nickenglish

as you say its down to personal preference i think , i didnt like it without the bodykit the difference here is you dont notice any joins on the bodykit as they have been filled and smoothed so it looks like part of the body.my mate also has a 99 spec in his garage(we imported 2 of them)which is in standard form but not on the road as he missed the sva deadline!!and you put the two together but 80%ish prefer the "boy racered" up style.:)
the original parts were sold to andrew at jimmys some time ago.

fair enough mate.  that is cool, i am into bodykitted rex\'s but it just seems that the veilside one is quite a contraversial kit.  it isnt to my taste, but hay if we all had the same taste it would be very boring.
just though i would say my opinion on price and what would affect it

what is blended in just the skirts and spats.  lots of people do it.  some people even go as far as to blend the front bumper in.  from my experince with blending kits in is after a few years they normally start to show as filler etc cracks.  i am sure not all but some examples i have seen tend to.

yeah no worries i need opinions to get a true feeling for what someone would pay for it:Thumbs-up .didnt do bumper in case it needed removing.but yeah filler tends to crack but this is what most garages do but me and my mate done mine and spent ages doing it and is normally a lot stronger if you mix fiberglass with the filler and as i have resprayed it three times in six years there is loads of paint on it-probably not so lightweight anymore:3Confused

the sentiments re the veilside i have to agree on. i think this is mainly due to the fact that you can get that body kit or a copy for just about any car so most think it is just too common perhaps more than ugly.

I dont think this affects the price so much but perhaps just the prospective market is smaller but as for everything somebody outhere is probably dreaming of that car with that kit.

hold out for a good price if you can basically as it is worth every penny. These cars are but they normally only get sold at the last minute when the owner has no choice so they end up undersold by a huge margin to the extent that most can be broken for more.

good luck anyway.

i do agree with the veilside part of it as they have been tainted by people copying them and fitting them to novas/escorts type cars, but i think the rex is the best looking car around and can carry it off easily.im not in any hurry to sell it as i do love the car and dont think i could part with it for anything less than 12k i would rather stay in the house im in and kick the missus out!!!!

Personal view, if I had the money to buy another rex, Standard body - I\'d look at ~10k.  With this kit maybe 8k (although the veliside kit would put me off the car completely!).

considering the mileage and conidtion regardless of mods i would be gutted to see this go for less than 12 at the very least!

I would want 15 purely on the rarity and fitting a standard nosecone or other is gonna be worth doing if it means 2,000 odd pounds so if need be i would say to do that

i do still have a 99 front bumper off my mates maybe it would be worth selling the car with it giving people the option as all they would have to do is respray the bumper as i have the paint!!!

That might sweeten the deal a bit...
