Spill the unfortunate details then?

joined the m5 from m4 at j16 pulled in to left lane then moved to middle to let the car on the inside of me pull in the slow lane... there were a few trucks in fron of the left so I though I want to get passed these as the spray they were causing was awfull... doing 55 ish...

pulled out into fast lane after checking nothing behind...  traffic was about 300 feet behind me...

over taking the car that was in front of me I looked in my mirror again and saw a car quite a way suddenly shoot up close must have beed doing 95+... he had loads of time to break as hje wasnt there 5 second ago and he came from behind not in blind spot...

I passed thae car and pulled in to let him pass and drew up level with his wondow wound down already.... mine was open as \'I was smoking a fag\' at the time. he was still beeping his horn and swearing at me in some language or other....

I asked him what his problem was... etc

went to wind my woindow up and .... \'whatever\' the guy when....

the rear end went really light and twitched back which sent me  towards the central res. suddelny there was no one around I tried to steer into it adn thought I had it ...went again back into middle lane  caught it  and then  it just let go very gently into a left spin/slide.... just a passenger from here on... I even ahd time to see out the passenger window to see if there was anything coming towards me...

ther wasnt...   onto the hard shourlder down the verge and onto the ditch...

was probaly doing 65 when it went.. 70 max  thats the truth

collision was very slow... had it been 2 feet further up I wold ahve hit a massive  bramble bush and would have been littlw or no damamge...

as it was I hit the other sied of the ditch on the right front corner while still spinning slightly

came to a stop got out unscathed... then the traffic rushed by... wierd!!!


sttod on the sideof the road  couple of people had stopped and asked if I was alriught...

for got my phone that morning  ahd to use their for a 999 call

HA traffic officers came afater about 15 mins I was soaked through in 2

sat witht them made a phone call to sort our receovery... was put throgh to AA who put me throught to performance direct who snet onto Highway who put into their claims line... spoke to two poeple their... each time giving al my details...


got it tout eventually... doesnt look too bad... the repair shop have done their estimate and are just waiting for part prices from mazda so should hear monday at latest but I think i will see my baby again...

very lucky to get out alive as I wasnt hit by any other traffic, half mile up the road and the verge is 40 foot down to a filed... steeper not such a soft landing...

I commend you for owning up too it,most people would try and forget it ever happened and keep it to themselves.
What do you think happened,did you hit a load of standing water and aqua plane your way into the ditch?
Anyway glad your ok apart from a bruised ego:o Hope the repair doesn\'t cost the earth?

Thats bad luck mate. I think we have all had a few scary moments recently with all this bad weather. Its good your ok, and more importantly that your rex can be fixed.

dont really know what happened but it was quite clear in front of me so whether it was just that little bit more water  on the road has chance to pool a bit...... might have accumulated in the middle lane tramlines..., they get me when it is dry!!!

I def aquaplaned at some point but it felt like the back went first.... any thoughts?...

Could have been a spot of oil or diesel on the centre lane mate??? that was how I got bit..... luckily for me it was only at about 40mph!!

dont now what happened... just semd to go from under me... like the F1 yesterday....

got the estimate back from the insurance comp today...

5500 total

3600 of that parts

sound awfully high?...

gonna get a 2nd opinion
