Firstly this is not rex related its to do with my Mitsubishi L400 MPV thing.
Its using alot of oil lately so i checked the air filter and found oil.I also found oil in the inlet and outlet pipes of the intercooler which is mounted on top of the engine. Pulled the pipe off the front of the turbo and found more oil there.
So the turbo\'s seals are blown and i\'m getting a replacement, but what about the intercooler which is also full of oil? Can i flush it out or just let the remaining oil work its way through the system? If i can clean it what should i use and how to do it?
 Many thanks in advance.

Sounds like a plan.I won\'t damage the interals will i??

I ran the hose thru an intercooler once the wrong way after an engine let go (prior to the FD) and it got most of it out except the film bonded to the metal.

Then as much as possible I used some gunk on a scrubbing brush and removed as far as it could reach.

probably not the mot ecologically sound way of soing this but when I did the turbo on my old 5 i cleaned the intercooler by pouring in about a pint of petrol sealing off the intake and outakes and giving it a good shake for a few mins, leave to settle for a few mins the shake some more.
Drain off fuel and oil mix and repeat till the petrol drains off clear.
Took about 4 goes on mine till the pterol came out clean, then just leave inverted overnight to drain of the petrol remnants

Not sure how sensible this is but it worked for me
