Quote from: johnfFrom reading these posts one could argue that this attitude is one of the reasons the UK sucks - I\'m doing my thing if you don\'t like it tough.

Do you really think it\'s fair to make as much noise, be it from a car, house stero, party etc and stick two finger up to who ever might not share your tastes saying I\'m OK stuff you.

Just another viewpoint that\'s all.

I agree too. I don\'t like it when my neighbour\'s spoilt brat is screaming, neither do i like having to pick their cat **** off my garden daily (they have 3 cats...any need?) but i don\'t want to make myself a bad neighbour. If you drive carefully the last few miles home there is no need to idle the car for 5 mins outside. All you can do is just be reasonable and if they still don\'t like it, tough I guess. I know there is no pleasing some people.

I wonder if people would feel the same if it was a Ferrari or a classic car of some description?

I certainly agree about being considerate to your neighbours, I really don\'t like it if they\'re being noisy when I\'m trying to sleep! (Not that they ever are in fairness).

my garage is nearer my 2 neighbours than it is mine so the missues is happy with the noise not really asked the neighbours i have a roller garage door so i just shut her down about 2 foot of the floor and let it warm up there sure it sounds even louder in the garage but hay sounds better then there baby crying (which usually follows!!!)
think its give a take really, i didnt complain when they had a extension and my car was constatly covered in dust even in the garage (not that i was happy about it)

The only complaint i have had so far is from a neighbours 5 year old. He came out of his house with his mum and said "Your car is loud. We don\'t like loud cars around here!". The mum quickly ushered him away.

I\'m with johnf completly. For the first time since joining MRC from the old Mazda RX7 club, I\'m wondering what sort of people I\'m sharing the forum with. You all seem to help each other with information and advice yet you seem to be behaving with complete disregard for anyone else who wants to live in peaceful surroundings.

I think there are obviously two sides to this, and people are jumping to conclusions. The RX7 whichever way you look at it is a fairly loud car. As long as your not revving the tits off it at 3am then people can\'t really say much, as there is little you can do about it. If your a responsible driver and not a mindless idiot and your neighbours still complain, the reality of it is, it really is tough sh*t.

I couldn\'t agree more, the fact that people leave their car running in their driveways in a vague attempt to warm up or cool down before or after a run are ignorant of the benefits they think it achieves, and obviously have a complete disregard for others!
After 7+ years of FD ownership this is a sad attitude to see and another reason why these fantastic cars are depreciating so badly with people associating Jap cars with the chav culture and attitude of stuff everyone else

On a technical front, most of the issues that arise on FD\'s (baked solenoids, vac pipes and wiring) are from prolonged under bonnet heat soak, (sat in traffic or driveways with the engine running) the best way to cool a car is to drive conservatively for a few minutes after driving hard, the heat rejection at even fairly low speeds far exceeds that of a pair of electric fans! the airflow you get while driving gives additional cooling around the turbo\'s,  inlet and block, as well as cooling intake temps through the intercooler all of which cannot be achieved by a pair of small rad mounted fans.

The engine was designed for a production car, there is no need to sit in your driveway allowing it to warm up, a gentle drive to get things up to operating temp before ‘booting it\' is more than sufficient!

I\'m too old to think of a quick reply Gurj - I\'ll get back to you in a week or two, is grumpyness a word anyway?
