hey,

was at donington a few days ago, all was good, heard a rattle/popping from engine bay then all of a sudden it sounded like i had an induction kit on the car...:eek  car drives fine, all goes properly no issues..
had a look today and can see where it has gone wrong, and it looks like the car is missing a bit (looks to me like it was a hose) but not 100% sure and don\'t know what it is i need to replace (order)..

car is an 88 egi..
can anyone tell me what the missing bit is and what its called so i can head to mazda to get a new one or whatever! also if it is a hose, does anyone know why this would just pop off???

( you should be able to spot the issue looking at the pic, can circle the point if need be )

Doesnt that hose feed direct from the air pump? Should be a case of refitting the hose and finding the clip :)

im pretty sure it came from the air pump, then the other bit goes into the exhaust manifold ( i think)... any idea what the hose is called and what clip lol, neither are anywhere to be seen...

mosguido

yeah she said she loved the car, just not the amount of gas it used... her s/c can\'t be much better on gas though :evillaugh

Brett

Thats the feed into the ACV - it injects air into the system at various stages to create afterburn and thusly reduce the emissions - with that hose off you wont be passing an MOT :yes

ahh emissions goodness, heh, is it just a simple hose then or has it got some gubbins inside there it needs..don\'t want to have to go through mazda prices to get one before next sat (going to france)
i cant see how it could have come off either? my clutch pedal felt quite spongey the second i heard the noise change but aside from that nothing else happened.

best thing - is to find someone with a EGI and see if they can get a photo of the same thing ??

anyone here have an egi?!

mosguido

still been looking around ALL over for pics of this but cannot find anything anywhere. have scoured all forms of service manual for this also, only thing i can find that looks even remotely similar to it is called an \'air chamber\' ? does that sound right?

please if anyone has an egi could they go an take a quick pic of this part of the engine and post it up? (or any other engine if it has similar bits).

cheers

There is suppose to be a piece of rubber pipe about 2" long that connects those two metal pipes. The pipe delivers air to the thermal reactor to cool it.
