Gauging interest

Hi all,

Not sure if this is the correct place for this but here we go, I am gauging interest in my FD but this is not a forsale thread I am also after opinions. I bought the car in Feb and had a compression done which showed just below or just over 7\'s all round, however in the last couple of weeks when it\'s really hot it will fire up but as soon as I hit the Accelerator it will drop to a single Rotor.

Spoke to Clive who\'s sorting the MOT and he reckons as do I that it is the start of a dieing engine, (low compression on a rotor) now apparently I may be able to \'Mask\' the problem with some hotter plugs but obviously this will only \'sort\' (I know I\'m just hiding the fault) the issue for a short period.

Right I have promised the Missus that this car wouldn\'t cost me the earth as my last (300zxTT) cost me a fortune, we are saving for a wedding and every penny counts so although I have the cash for a rebuild I don\'t really want to spend it at the moment and don\'t have the space to do it myself... So I need a realiable motor... so the car will have a full MOT and I have a PFC and commander down at Hayward, HKS intake and WGT SMIC awaiting Fitment, It is standard other than that, it\'s motego blue by the way.

What should I do? If anyone has the likes of a Volvo V70 T5/850 T5 they\'ed be looking to Swap/PX thats the sort of car I\'m looking at at the moment otherwise what do you guys reckon? How much chould I be looking at for it if I just sell it? I\'d love to keep but at the end of the Day I can by another when the weddings done etc.

Sorry for the Long post but I\'m a little bit lost and quite upset about the whole thing at the moment! anyhow let me know what you guys reckon!

in all honesty u are screwed as the cost of a good rebuild is going to be prob upwards of 2500 maybe less if u get lucky but these cars are slow sellers and ones with problems will move even slower...for a cheap rebuild i wld look at a basic job from rx motors..email or pm me if u want any other advice about what to do as i have been thru the rebuild process twice..u can count on clive for fair impartial advice and you wld do a lot worse than take his advice on ur next course of action

I know mate... Just i\'m a little bit dis-heartned at the moment as I thought that this was going to last me some time with just some cosmetics to clear up.

Thanks for the advice though hopefully the Car\'ll go through the MOT on Friday and I\'ll pseak to Clive then.

well not for under a grand! well not at the spec mine is anyways! you can get good used engines untested...mines running in a car at the moment! and can be backed with compression and water seal tests!

Thanks for the offer, I\'m going to wait and see what Clive says on Friday, but this does sound tempting, I don\'t have the space to fit a new engine but I\'m sure I could persuade someone to let me do it on their driveway... I\'ll let you know anyhow!
