Hi guys....

Right, I\'ve just recently completed an engine swap etc and finallygot the car all running again.

The clutch when pressed sat to the floor so we bled it and it now seems fine. Only thing is, it seems a little hard to get into first and reverse. Harder than it was before anyway.

I don\'t know what to do now. Is there still air in the system? Can the clutch be adjusted somehow? When doing the engine swap I left the clutch on the gearbox and unbolted the flywheel (don\'t know if it makes any difference, but I thought I\'d say)

Apart from that, the car is now tip top!! :)

Thanks for any help!

Jim_rx7

Is it possible that it\'s simply not bled properly?

if you have gears and the box was fine before the swap i would say it can only need bleeding, not a bad time to flush the whole system and start again

How would I go about flushing etc?

Yeah, it was fine before.

RobbieRX-7

Yeah, might just be air in the system. Air compresses more than the fluid meaning the slave cylinder aint moving so much when the peddle is pressed. Might take a bit longer but why not bleeed the whole system...brakes and clutch.  Old fluid don\'t sound too good

Jim_rx7

How would I go about getting old fluid out and filling with new?

mpk490p

just open the bleed nipple on the clutch have you handy assistant pump the clutch a few times, top up the fluid and pump again making sure you dont run too low in the bottle, you can see when the new fluid comes through if you use a clear tube

you can buy this self bleeding kit for cheap at most motor stores. this is what i used when i changed my slave cylinder.

works a treat too.

Try again to bleed the system.
noisy when slot into first gear or rev gear while the pedal on floor.
= pilot bearing going bad!
Should check the bearing/ grease( very important) before install.
Hope it\'s help.

Jim_rx7

I wouldn\'t say it\'s noisey.. just seems quite hard to get it into gears.

Now you tell me to check stuff before install!! lol.

Will attempt to bleed it all and see what happens.

when bleeding my clutch i had to remove the slave pump and compro=ess it by hand with the bleed screw open to remove the air traped in there as it is never fully pushed back when in the bell housing, then rebleed in the normal way.

I drove it a little today and it\'s not too bad. But it does need rebled I think.
