Got a slight issue with my boost controller........ Like its limiting the boost to 1.1 bar with everything set to min, it does work fine, as it was boosting to 1.3 before we turned it right down to min!!!!

I\'ve cheked the pipeing & all is good, but do I need to block any pipes off to get it to work properly??? It\'s the early profec B with 2 outlets on the solonoid pack, not the spec 2 with 3 outlets!!!

PLEASE HELP,
I need to get this working properly ASAP so I can finish off the mapping!!!

Could it be because I\'m running a 2mm silicone pipe for the controller inside the car, as the maual says it comes with 3mm pipe???

What grade of pipe are you using. I use some cheap stuff for a boost gauge once and the pipe welded itself shut after vacuum and heat :Giggle

Its only a vac signal that its picking up so would have thought it wouldn\'t make a big difference.

what rating is your wastegate spring?....to test it switch off your boost controller and see what it boosts to......it could be that........careful though!!!

Sounds like a mad question but how long have you owned the controller. Are you setting the initial opening % at all ?? Turn the knob from the front menu and it will give you the starting opening %. Just an idea ????

You guys are chatting about the spec 2 I think....... this is the one I\'ve got:
http://www.greddy.com/img/PHP/products/pdf/687.pdf

But it doesnt show any applications for sequentials!! although the theoy is the same, greg was saying he has heard of this problem before & the best thing to do was research it on the net to see what others have done to get around the problem!!!

Obviously by the above statment you can tell it\'s on a set of stock twins, so no exturnal wast gate, or springs to fiddle with!! but even with the controller turned off it still boosts to 0.98 bar although it is rock solid at that & doesnt cross it (apart from the initial hit of the second turbo but that is only 1.03bar & for a fraction of a second!!)

oh blimey thats a bit different to the newer one ! Are you sure they did 1.3bar ?? Mine don\'t want to go over 1bar, Was told that I\'d maxed them out by a tuner. Don\'t they just blow hotter air at anything over 1 bar ??

Aparantly not mate!! as mine was restricting it to 1.3 bar with it set half way & 1.1 at minimum, so there is obviously an issue somwhere with the pipeing!! but with it turned off it is sitll hitting 0.98 bar!!!

Oh yea, didn\'t open the taps at that boost mind as we wanted to drop it to about 0.9, but I think I might just stick with the 0.98 that I\'ve got now!! although it would be nice to get the controler working properly so I have the option of 0.8 & 0.98 bar !!

FD3UK

If you\'re getting .98 Bar with controller switched off, you will never get .8 Bar with it switched on. You can only control boost to a level above wastegate alone will allow.

nikp

On standard twins, the wastegate actuator only has a 0.5bar spring, I thought.

Yes that is correct.

We need some more info on setup...

Do you have PFC and commander?

Is boost controller working on secondary wastegate only, or primary pre control as well?

The car:

Power FC
Custom IC Vmount & Pipeing
Custom Y pipe
Running stock twins with stock actuators etc

The controller is only set up to the wast gate actuator not the prespool as I have read that tapping in to the prespool aswell is bad!!

Please help me..... as befor all the mods the car would boost to 0.8, ocasionaly it would over boost which aparantly was down to the vac solonoids at the front of the UIM, which are now chainged for a good working pair!!

Ooooo, I just rememberd!!! You know the oneway valve that goes from the Y pipe to the black pressure tank under the strut bar...... well one end came off it so I fitted it back together & taped it up!! Could this be the cause of the issu????

But why can I only get the boost down to 1.1 bar using the controller, but when I turn it off it goes to .98 bar???? Greg said all the fueling was good & nothing to worry about, just dont go driving it hard till we finish mapping it in a few weeks!!

I suspect minimum setting on boost controller is still giving some solenoid duty
giving small rise in boost.

Make sure pressure tank is pressurising OK

refer to vacuum diagram HERE only solenoid J should be connected now.

Check solenoid duty on PFC via commander and adjust primary duty to try and regain .8 Bar base duty.

strange_days_uk

JD,

Sounds like a config prob, as you know it worked fine on my FD.  Did you use the diagram I sent ?
