Took my front lip splitter off today as its damaged. Its cracked on the drivers side corner and the flat bit that bolts to the underside of the car is hanging off. As they are hard to get hold of and expensive I was thinking of trying to repair it. Has anyone done this themselves that can point me in the right direction as I know bu**er all about plastic repairs. Cheers

No not really, mine is the same but i was thinking of repairing it with resin only and then maybe coating it with carbon fiber as i have about a 10 metre roll of it.

Yeah I was thinking just about glueing it back together with some form of resin. My dad used to build model planes and had some 2 pack stuff for the plastic. I was wondering if it would need strengthening with fibre glass or something though to stop it from happening again. What do you think?

Fiberglass wont hold for long as the splitter is polyurethene.  Have a look at plastic welding (or whatever it was called! :Hammer )

TiddlesRX7

Yeah I heard that but it has been repaired on the passenger side with fibreglass and it seams to be fine. I chipped most of the filler off today to expose the crack only to find its a big hole. I\'ll try it with fibreglass an see what happens. If it doesn\'t work then I\'ve lost nothing (hopefully!) except a few quid for materials. I\'ll take some pic\'s as I do it and get them posted up. If it all goes wrong then I\'ll have to get an after market one. Im just being a cheap skate first!

Aye I know what you mean.  I fixed mine with fiberglass but knowing it\'s not the proper way I shall remove it all and start again! To be honest, remembering all the nuts and bolts that hold it all together, you might get away with it and be ok :chat

TiddlesRX7

I hope so. It seems to be the way with these cars. Just try and see what happens, as long as your having fun along the way its all good. If it all goes to pot I may see if the guy I got my fibreglass off would make a mould from mine so I can make some new ones.

I had exactly the same problem :D
I\'ve just finished repairing mine with fibreglass, if I get some time tomorrow I\'ll upload the pics. I also was thinking about making a batch up, seems I may have some competition... :D

pdtaylor, where did you get the carbon fibre sheet from and for how much? You interested in selling some of it?

TiddlesRX7

I\'d love to make a batch up but I\'m gonna see what happens with the repair first. I have never done anything like this before so it could get messy! Im gonna try it after work today. Fill it and sand it tomorrow. Then try and get it painted and back on before the northan meet on monday. But we will see. Fingers crossed. How did your repair go BLM?

I thought you were thinking about purchasing the one in Preston?:rollin  If It stays cheep I might have a bid myself. Think the gearbox I won is a no goer cause i\'ve never heard from the seller since the auction ended. OH I just finnished the fibreglassing of the splitter. Just got to wait till it hardens to see what it looks like.
