After a change of situation recently things are going to be very tight on money and if i can help it i really really dont want ot have to sell my FD after recently spending lots of money on a rebuild and getting the car where i want it.  Have been toying with the idea of taking the car of the road and keeping it stored in a garage for a while.  I currently pay my insurance monthly (£80 a month) so would save on this and also save on not having to pay road tax and also wont be as tempted to drive it.

What i was wondering is, if i have the car stored in a garage for a while what things do i have to watch out for and problems that might arise from keeping a car stored???

Battery of course would be the odvious.

whats things are likely to seize etc??

cheers

I didn\'t start mine for over 6 months, started first time on the button!  Just keep it dry, if you can buy an optimate....that will look after the battery

Nothing to stop you from starting it regularly?

yeh thats what i was thinking just start it up now and again, maybe just take it round the block, its jsut a little housing estate never any coppers about

Until you post up your details on the internet for instance......now no one would ever say to the entire world and the police that they would be intending to break the law! ;)

Maybe go with the idea of just the drive way!!! lol

chrisJDM

my Series 1 sat under a cover for about 5 and a half years, i started it from time to time but it got longer the longer it sat there, found a good shell put the engine in it (engine was a 13b 4 port with 3,000 miles on it before someone pranged me!) hadn\'t been starter for a good year and she went first time with a drop of oil in the carb!

leave the handbrake off, dont let the tyres or battery go flat, and keep the wheels rotating  as much as you can.

I used to own a cheap run around as well as the rx so i dont have to use it everyday, sometimes if you use the car very often it loses it\'s special feeling and then its just another car.

I use mine as a daily driver just at the mo, will be buying another car in August as a family car maybe a Mazda 6 or something or a Vectra GSI MSD, so the rx7 will then spend most of its time parked at my parents under wraps as they have a bigger rear parking area :Thumbs-up

Yeah... I agree. When mine is running again though it\'s gonna feel good!! lol.

I\'ve got rid of so many cars because I\'ve been bored as I drive them everyday.
