I have got a set of split rims (2 piece) and i want to split them to paint and polish them. Anything i need to know before i do it?

I have heard mention of a gasget of some sort, is this correct?
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

No problem as such Tony just take your time not to shear a bolt. There\'s no gasget in a two piece rim they are in a three piece set up.

My three piece had sealant between the faces I would think even on two piece there must be some sort of bond as metal to metal surely can\'t keep the air in.

After taking all the bolts out I ran a Stanley knife between the faces and then used an old chisel as a drift, slowly worked my way round till they serperated.

I started with nothing and I have most of it left

on a 2 piece the rim is one piece so there is no join to seal, only the \'spokes\' bolt to the rim but i wasnt sure if there should still be something between the 2?

I\'ve heard about the need to use a torque wrench to tighten them up afterwards, and also to make sure you put the bolts back on in the right order.... not sure what that order is :D

maybe sometihng like put bolts in opposite positions working your way round till finished, or mayee put them back on the way they came off...

Oh, and techincally, you should replace the bolts rather than using the old ones, but you might get away with it if they\'re in good nick..
