So.. as some of you may or may not know i decided to go full non sequential with my new high flow twins.  The project has been been going well of late and after my last post with pictures of my wastegate port and pre control removal

http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39764

I thought id give a little update as to my progress :cheers

I started to strip down the top half of my engine monday gone and pulled quite alot out in a short space of time. i thought to myself "could this be anymore fun?!" finally the point came where i could take great satisfaction in starting to rip out the rats nest!

so time goes on another day passes and i decided it was time to work on the downpipe Y pipe etc unfortunatly i had a right a*se of a job with one of the DP nuts and had to grind it out in the end.  Appart from that everything went pretty smooth!

its incredible what goes into these amazing machines i couldnt believe how much stuff i had sitting in my boot !!

anyway Y pipe time first off i sepperated and removed the butterfly, then charge control actuator.

The hole was then Plugged with chemical metal and after leaving it to harden i ground it down flat and re assembled, real easy to do, proper bo  :Thumbsup!

Anyway if anyone is interested i\'ll update this post every now and then with progress.

tomorrow im going to try tackling the turbo pack more pics to come

But now its time for a well earned cup of tea :D

Carl

Hi John,
Be careful with the chemi metal,it can pop out under boost pressure.
If you want to do it more securely then get some ally tig welded into the holes.
Regards
Carl

John_Hudson

okay nice one, thanks carl i\'ll look into that tomorrow.  You can weld alloy with a mig if you get a differnt gas can\'t you ?

mate you need to fabricate the stuff with me that ive been thinking of for ages cos mate your talented :)

theres me not making an intake box cos its too hard lol

John_Hudson

Id have to say talented was pushing it abit :p
more... restless, I dont like waiting about and I prefer to jump in both feet first.  If im interested in something i\'ll pick it up quick, the only advice I can give is go for it.  Get your tape measure out, you know you want too !! :D

dont you find that you spend more money on the bits to fabricat then you would to buy, ie metals, grinding stuff liquid metal etc etc  probably just me tho, :p

John_Hudson

nope! i just rince bits of road signs and gatso boxes....   ONLY JOKING!!!!

My grandfather was a tool maker and my dad has always been good at making things so when it comes to that sort of stuff there is usually bits around to make whatever.   If there is something that i need and i cant do it myself then i\'ll try and get it done some other way.

ds2000

Great start :)

How much power are you hoping for once its all done?

John_Hudson

hoping for around 350 RWHP after tubs controller etc etc etc are all in place and mapped, i dont really want anymore after experiencing what dom has achieved with his motor

John_Hudson

another quick update, turbo\'s have now been removed, and they don\'t look to bad ! however my camera has started to go wrong it dosnt like to focus and its very tempremental :( im hoping to have most of it done on monday so i\'ll try to take more pics :)

just afew pics of a tubless bay

arrouk

while you are this far into the twins some suffer badley with cracking, shat play ect. It would be the ideal time to check and sort any probs as they will get a lot worse a lot quicker with the higher boost needed for that power.

matt

John_Hudson

hey matt thanks for the heads up but i have some spanky new knight sports twins to go in :D

m4drx

that must have been a royal pain in the arse getting them out while the block is in right? not many people do it.

you snap any studs etc?

good going btw mate :wiggle
fduk.

John_Hudson

Nah it was fine actually, all the nuts studs etc came off w/o a hitch :Thumbsup!
