has anyone got any pics of where they have put their oil breathers as i need to put one on and was wondering where to put one?

I have been told somewhere near or into the air filter does this sound right?

If you want to recycle the \'breathed\' oil you can feed it back into the air intake. Alternatively, it can be vented to atmosphere, or vented into a catch tank. The breather comes off the oil filler neck and on the standard twin turbo vented into the air intake just before the primary turbo intake.

HTH.

right nik i was told where the breather is atm i should cut into that pipe with a catch tank attached.

The catch tank has 2 nozzles so i could do as you say recycle the oil back in but how would i connect another breather to the air filter and do i need to connect the breather to the catch tank ie where the air filter is?

The reason i am having to this is because ever since going single there is oil being pushed through the turbo and therefore clouds of smoke come out of the exhaust when running wot,so doing this it should eliminate this oil getting pushed through the turbo and following to the exhaust.

Do you have any pics of how one looks when it is on or connected to air filter?

cheers for your help.

If you\'re getting oil pushed through the turbo, you have probably done something wrong with the breather system. I know, as the same happened to me. Basically, there are 2 tubes coming off the oil filler - one went to the upper inlet manifold with a PCV valve in it, and the other I had blocked up - this one was the one that was causing the system to over pressurize and force the oil through the easiest location: the turbo. You need to check to make sure the hose from the oil filler neck is going somewhere useful (back in to inlet, supplying a catch tank, or open to atmosphere (If it\'s open to atmosphere you still need a pipe on it that goes to just under the engine otherwise you\'ll cover the engine in oil!!))

we have took the pipe which is connected to the filler neck and has what i think is a inline breather on it and found out that it is sucking oil back into the engine so bearing in mind i think it should be a one way breather we are going to put this catch tank on the end of that pipe so then it should help stop the oil going out to the turbo.

When you say that you had a block in your pipe which one do you mean?

The one pointing downwards. I had blocked that off when it shouldn\'t have been. First I vented it to atmosphere with a pipe dangling down the side of the block, then i put it into a \'catch tank\' (plastic coke bottle!)

There\'s another pipe that comes off the oil filler neck sideways, that has a PCV valve (One way valve) which is connected to the UIM - probably the one you are talking about? I can\'t remember which way round it is meant to be though.

yes nik i\'ve got it now so the pipe i was checking was the sideways one which has a one way valve on it but the other you talk about i haven\'t touched.

So would you agree that putting the catch tank at the side of pcv will cure this problem of oil getting through to the turbo, i hope so.:Thumbsup! :)

You must have touched the one coming vertically downwards off the oil filler neck because on the standard twin turbo system it goes to the inlet of the primary turbo - you don\'t have that anymore, so something must have happened to it! Might be worth checking that out - I put my \'catch tank\' on that line.
