Foglight fuse keeps blowing?

Hi all,

Right back ground behind this first...I\'ve cut the connector off my old foglights and wired up my new Feed headlights (the driving light/H3) bit to them (red on the connector to white on the H3 bulb, black to black).

I\'ve checked the wiring and I definitely get in the region of 11.8V going to both connectors on the car. However as soon as I plug them in and switch on the front fogs, the fuse blows?

I\'m really stuck as to why unless it was being overloaded? But they\'re the same 12V/55W H3 bulbs the stock fogs use so I\'m a bit confused.

Anyone any ideas?

Cheers!

Paul.

Is the fuse blowing when you turn on the headlights and the fogs, or just the headlights?

If it blows straight awayits a dead short, if it takes a while,  it could be overloading.   how many wires do u have on the bulb holder :)

probedb

It\'s when the fogs are turned on when the lights are already on.

I just have one H3 on each wire, basically where the fogs are on the standard car. It blows even if I just connect one. It blows within a second of turning the fog lights on. I can\'t see where it\'d be shorting as it\'s only two wires going to the bulb :(

Mobilemick

Why do u have 2 wires going to the fog light bulb.  u only need the live from the fog light switch

probedb

The standard connector has live and ground (red and black) and the bulb has white and black wires so I\'ve put white to red and black to black for the harness. I\'ll post some pics of everything tomorrow so you can see how it\'s connected :) At me folks today so no pix.

Mobilemick

try it with just red wire connected, pics will help

Joeh

Yeah, try connect the black one to the body of the car

I\'ll give it a go next weekend. Here\'s some pics....

I may be missing a trick, it sounds to me like you\'re using the original fog lamp wiring to power both the headlights and the fog lights? In which case you\'re drawing ~ twice the current, so I\'m not surprised the fuse blows. If this is the case, don\'t just increase the fuse size as you\'ll overheat the wiring, you really need to use the original headlight wiring.

Nope. The sidelight and indicators are powered off the standard harness for them and work fine on both sides. That\'s why you can see 2 different wiring connectors....one is the side and repeaters, the other is the foglight.

It\'s just the H3s that are using the stock foglight wiring that keep blowing the foglight fuse. None of the other fuses blow.
