Rebuilding 12A NA

Hi all

So my 12A from 1982 needs rebuilding. Max 4 Bar on rear, 0 on front Rotor.

What do you think the cost would be for just Apex seals and springs, and water seals? ( If I am that lucky)

Do vendors here supply original parts cheaper than Mazda?

Are there options for the water seals? I seem to think Atkins Rotary or Bruce Turrentine make some?

Does anyone have Gen 1 part numbers?

What kind of apex seal kind I expect to find in an 1982 engine? What are Mazda selling as a replacement now?

All depends on how old the engine is really. I\'ve been told by a tuner that most 12a engines are mostly junk when they come out. I had an engine off kev that was a runner that i could have easily dropped into the car and used but it was bought to take to bits ! The Housings and rotors where junk, no chrome on the housings and the seal grooves in the rotor 0.5mm too wide.

I know Era said to me not to throw anything away and that alot of it could be reused.

I think tim at rxmotors has 2nd hand housings and rotors but not completly sure.

From the info i\'ve been told the 13b was much better at having reusable bits, which is why im swapping out to a 13b.

I would say that at least one of the above vendors could supply a rebuilt kit, or you could try rotary aviation.

I\'ll have 2 full knackered engines if you want some bits, but i doubt the housings or rotors will be much use. If the engine in now doesn\'t completly die it will be going very cheap

I\'ve been told by one of the tuners not to use anything but the mazda water seals. He said that the aftermarket ones are only good if your running methanol !!
