I know there are hundreds of threads on the rough idling problem when people have thier air con switched on, and they are all put down to people not setting up thier apexi correctly.

However mine does this and I have a stock ecu. I\'ve had it serviced twice and when the air comes on it works (its bloomin freezing!) but it loads and unloads the engine every few seconds and just can\'t drive smoothly and when idling it nearly stalls the car.

Any ideas?

Hi mate, I had this on my last car, 300zx, and it turned out to be the bearings in the Compressor-Clutch thingy were seizing up so you may need a new compressor.
Mine started doing it when I had it regassed and then just seized... If it loads the engine I wouldn\'t run it too much.

Exactly what I did... Did wonders for my cooling on the 300!

I had something similar and it was a dodgy earth to the battery, seemed the extra electrical load caused the leccy to cut and the revs to drop, then the AC switched off and it all picked up... All been 100% since cleaning up the battery terminals and using some electrical contact grease on them.

Worth a go if you want to keep the AC (which when it\'s like this I so love my AC!)

Thanks I\'ll give that a try. I was thinking of running in a new earth cable to the battery to cope with the extra current from the audio.
